SAS 2.0 is designed for backwards compatibility with SAS 1.0 and delivers 2 x the data transfer rate (6 Gb/s) than SAS 1.0. The SAS 2.0 interface supports both 6 Gb/s SAS disk drives for data-intensive applications and 6 Gb/s SATA drives for low-cost bulk storage of reference data.
The RAID Subsystem supports flexibility interface configuration - one 4-lane 6 Gb/s SAS host with one 4-lane 6 Gb/s SAS expander or two 4-lane 6 Gb/s SAS hosts for easy expansion and performance. When the expander port is used with a SAS 6 Gb/s expander, the RAID Subsystem can provide up to 122 devices through one or more 6 Gb/s SAS JBODs, making it an ideal solution for enterprise-class storage applications that call for maximum configuration flexibility.
The 6 Gb/s host interfaces make the RAID Subsystem well suited for professionals who need large capacity and exceptional performance with connectivity. Easy RAID Management
Configuration and monitoring can be managed either through the LCD control panel, RS232 port or Ethernet port. The firmware also contains an embedded terminal emulation via the RS232 port. The firmware-embedded web browser-based RAID Manager allows local or remote access to it from any standard Internet browser via a 1 Gb/s LAN port. The controller also supports API library for you to write your own monitor utility. The Single Admin Portal (SAP) monitor utility supports one application to manage multiple RAID units in the network. The Disk Stress Test (DST) utility kicks out disks meeting marginal specification before the RAID unit is actually put on line for real business. The hardware monitor can check the subsystem environment and show the warning message.
