Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens
Key Features
  • EF-S Mount Lens/APS-C Format
  • 88-400mm (35mm Equivalent)
  • Aperture Range: f/4 to f/32
  • One Ultra-Low Dispersion Element
Suitable for distant subject matter, the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM is an 88-400mm-equivalent zoom for Canon APS-C DSLRs. This lens's long reach is enhanced by the inclusion of an Ultra-Low Dispersion element, which helps to greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for greater clarity and color accuracy throughout the zoom range. A Super Spectra coating is also featured, and minimizes flare and ghosting in order to produce greater contrast when working in bright lighting conditions. Benefitting both photo and video applications, an STM stepping AF motor is used to realize quick and near-silent autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override. Additionally, a four-stop-effective Image Stabilizer system is also featured and minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper handheld shooting.

question

Will it fit on A 30S 7D?
Asked by: Ryan H.
If your question is will the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens be used on the Canon EOS 7D DSLR camera, then yes, the lens would be fully compatible for use on the 70D. If you are also referring to the Canon EOS 30D (I am not familiar with a 30S DSLR camera), then the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM Lens would also be compatible for use with the Canon EOS 30D DSLR camera.

question

Will a 1.4 telextender work with this lens?
Asked by: GORD
Sorry, no. Telextenders work best with extreme (expensive) telephoto primes with fast f/2.8 apertures. They cannot work with consumer lenses like this with an effective f/11 stop. If you try to mount this, the glass elements most likely will hit and damage each other. Even if you succeeded in mounting, the lens would be so dark, you could not focus and the image quality, sharpness wise, would be very poor.

question

Difference between import vs USA on lens
Asked by: Anonymous
USA means that the lens was sold within the US markets and carries a valid USA warranty. If the item is import/grey market, then the product was purchased outside of the US market and comes with a 1 year B&H warranty.

question

Is this an appropriate lense for model 50D?
Asked by: Anonymous
STM is the technology for the focusing motor and is compatible with all Canon EOS lenses. It is especially good with cameras that are used for video as it is almost silent (the focusing motor will not affect the sound), however it is nice to have on all cameras because it is so quiet. It will work fine on the 50D and be almost silent.
