    Brother ADS-1000W reviews

ADS-1000w Wireless Document Scanner is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 109.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Value For The Price Awsome little scanner for the price. Was looking for a scanner capable of scanning double sided and multiple pages into a single pdf documents. This scanner offer this and does a great job. In addition, its wireless, compact, and lightweight to allow for portability when wanting to use the scanner in different locations in the home. Overall it's a great home scanner on a budget. The scanner can also scan credit cards and allows for different formats to allow for document, picture, and credit card scanning. The only drawback found so far is once in a while a page get scanned slightly skewed if not perfectly inserted in the document feeder.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not working for our needs We have a fleet of semi trucks and purchased one of these as a test run in one of our trucks. Our drivers have to scan in load documentation and get it to us quickly so we can collect on our bills. This scanner is very touchy about networks and does not work well via WIFI. Also, it pulls all the papers through at once so the user has to sit and feed each sheet through individually to ensure each sheet is scanned. This scanner is causing more frustration than it is productivity. The driver put the CAMSCAN app on his phone and that works way better than this Brother scanner. We will not be purchasing any more of these for our company.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Product for the Price I've scanned a few hundred documents so far with this little scanner. Love how little space it takes up on my desk. It does fairly well if a document isn't perfect flat, but I've had better scanners as far as accepting crumpled edges, etc. (but they cost a lot more money!) I haven't done more than 5 or so pages at a time because I feel it would have trouble since the documents I am scanning are not perfect paper right out of a printer, they are service records from field techs which means there are spills, rips, and wrinkles. Overall, very pleased with the unit for the price. Hoping it lasts us for a long time because we still have thousands of pages to scan!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Good for my needs EXCEPT: While I love this scanner for its ease of use, I would like very much to understand why it shows that it is connected to my wireless internet, I cannot use the scanner without plugging in the usb cable. I can set up computers without much effort, but for the life of me, I cannot understand why using this wirelessly (not plugged in with usb cable) is such a problem. I use this for personal use, trying to get rid of so much paper in my files. It scans very well, I use a custom setting, prefer smaller files in pdf format and I also use it to categorize things for tax returns, medical information, etc. I can also send documents to my Evernote account very easily. I love my little scanner, but need a solution for the true capabilities of this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Oh Brother I was so excited to find this scanner. The reviews looked good, the price was fair, and it was just the right size. My issue? I also own a compact, Brother laser printer. I have tested the scanner, and so far it works great. My complaint is that I have YET to get either of them to work when I try to set them up through the wireless connection, even though I understand computers and have tried numerous times to unsuccessfully connect these machines. My tablet and phone were effortless. What's the deal, Brother???!!!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent Duplex Scanner I'm on a Mac and this is a decent scanner that has auto-feed capabilities and offers duplex scanning. For this price, there isn't much else out there that could compete. The feeder itself isn't great - have had several pages get stuck and eaten by the scanner on occasion, but it does work. The Mac software basically needs to be downloaded from their website if you're keeping OSX up to date, so don't even bother trying to use the included CD/DVD. You likely want to install the control center software, but beyond that it seems like a lot of bloat and un-needed. Can scan directly to a PDF via the control center software, which is convenient. The footprint is small, but it's not tiny. It would fit into a backpack if necessary, but it's not exactly portable given the size and power cable. Scans look good, but not as good as my flatbed scanner. If I needed to have quality I would stick with that. But the auto-feed style is what I needed to scan a quantity of paperwork and this does the trick, with a few quirks.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terribly disappointed I was enthusiastic to receive this scanner. After an hour (4 attempts) to install it I had to give up. I called my local technician who spent 2 hours and finally threw in the towel. I called Brother Customer Service and first talked to a young lady who gave up after 30 minutes. She transferred me to an "expert" who spent 3-1/2 hours doing everything in the book. He finally said the Drivers could not be installed on my computer (Dell 8300). We all received an error message ISO52 but nobody knew what it meant. I plan to call for a RA today. Regretfully disappointed.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This scanner makes me pull my hair out! This scanner is very picky about just how it feeds the sheets in, and will suddenly either feed one in crooked, or suck in five sheets at a time; jamming for either one, and making me pull the mess out (shredded page edges from the scanner now), and start the entire process again. When it does work smoothly, it does a fair job. Scanning a PDF as a Word document usually results in many mis-spellings, or entirely wrong wording, which I have to check against the original, but I can work through that. The paper feed mechanism is POOR, and I would never recommend this scanner to anyone.
