IIs this lens any good for night sky?

IIs this lens any good for night sky?
Asked by: chris
The HD Pentax 15mm f/4 can be used for night photography if you have a tripod and don't mind star trails. If you're looking to capture photos of sharp stars, I would consider a lens with a wider aperture.

question

Can I use a circular polarizer with this lens or is 15mm too wide? Just read about problems with wide angle lenses and circular polarizing lens. How wide is too wide?
Asked by: Judy
You can but... With a 15 mm lens, a polarizer's effect will be all over the place. The result will NOT be uniform. You'll get strong gradients in colours in the sky, for instance. I don't really recommend using a polarizer on such a wide lens. Personally I don't use polarzing filters very often and typically not on anything less that a 50mm on a FF sensor or 35mm on an APS sensor.

As stated, this lens is designed for APS-C sensor sized cameras. It can be used on the K-1 but only when the K-1 is in crop mode.
