Yamaha CP4 overview

  • 1Description

The CP4 STAGE from Yamaha is a digital stage piano that features a selection of sounds (voices) from Yamaha's hand-crafted grand pianos, including the CFX, CFIIIS and S6. Also included are well-known vintage EPs (electric pianos) with VCM effects, the piano sounds of the venerable DX series of digital synthesizers, and a variety of sounds based around the company's flagship MOTIF synthesizer. All of this has been matched with an 88-note, wooden-key Graded Hammer action keyboard that provides the authentic piano touch and response. Additionally, the lightweight design combines portability with elegant style.

Yamaha's GH3 keyboard has three sensors: in addition to two sensors to detect keystroke strength, it includes a Damper Sensor that enables the playing of the same note repeatedly with perfect articulation. This also blends sounds without the use of the damper pedal. Voice Category buttons facilitate calling up sounds quickly and easily with favorites storable for each category. Large lighted buttons make it easy to split and layer sounds even on the darkest stage, making it simple to switch from a full piano, to a piano layered with strings, or with a split bass sound. A single button press returns the piano sound to the entire keyboard.

    Yamaha CP4 reviews

CP4 STAGE - Electronic Stage Piano is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderfully natural for a stage piano I tried many before I bought the CP4 and this is a pure pleasure to play. It's the only stage piano that I don't feel like Im playing a computer. I played a Kawai MP11 and had close to that feeling but it was a tank of metal and wood. Kind of defeats the purpose. I also played the RD800 and it had wonderful keys and piano sound but I could not get over that computer-like feeling when playing it. I tried a Nord Stage 2. What a joke for $! No that its bad by any means but for $??? That's just insulting compared to whats out there for much less. I guess red paint is expensive ;). Thank goodness for the highly versatile, yet plain and simple CP4.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CP4 is how stage piano should be Ive been shopping the MP7 and CP4 for a month. I need a stage piano that feels and sounds amazing, mostly piano sounds. I like them both very much but the CP4 was my favorite out of the two for many reason such as weight, sound, key action, quality, etc. I took advantage of the rebate and it arrived yesterday. The CP4 is great stage piano and extremely pleased with my purchase. Nothing crazy or complex. Turn it on and start playing. Fantastic piano sound and action right out of the box! You can certainly edit sounds to your hearts content if you like. Or keep it simple and enjoy the CP4 like I do. Amazing piano. Price is right more than ever. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceptiopnal Piano Sound and Action I love the sound of the CFX grand piano. Just make a few tweaks to your taste and you will be amazed at the rich piano sound you are hearing. The keys are just the icing on the cake. Superb action. Im in love with this piano. Plenty of other sounds if needed but if your main focus is piano this a top must on you list. Also thanks to BH rep for answering all my dumb shipping questions. Arrived in pristine manner. Got a great staff over there. Oh yes-- AND $ rebate!! Are you kidding?? Where is the hidden camera??

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome. Literally thrilling to play. I'm pleased in every way about this product. When combined with good studio monitors, the sound is exciting - especially that of the CFX piano Voices. I'm now glad to have given our grand piano to our daughter. I'm not a pro musician, but I know quality sound and appreciate the versatility of this product. I simply do not want to stop playing it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Aweful. I want my money back. Why did I spend sooo much for this?!?! This is like a toy piano. Sounds the exact same as their P-35. Action is a bit better - not much. Save yourself well over a thousand and by yourself the lesser model. ITS SOUNDS THE SAME. Plus, I can't get over how cheaply made this is. Why did I believe all the advertisements and demos. It;s not heavy - who cares?! Stay away fro the CP4. So many better options in that price range. I hope I can return it without too much hassle. B&H is great. Im a long time happy customer. My own fault not to try the CP4 before buying it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CP4 is great simple stage piano I mainly play piano and dont need to many other sounds just some strings, organs, and EPs. I own a Roland RD-800 and love it for that, but I rather keep in my home studio and take advantage of is versatility and edit functionality. So, i wanted something durable and light as possible without compromising too much from my RD-800. I bought a CP4 for gigs both solo and band. Im not sure why some give it negative reviews. Im pro musician going on 30 years and played most stage pianos available. I have to say that this is a remarkable piano for weight, action, and sound. Look, you cant put a Steinway in a 38 lb box, but lets be real. Nord is very nice but too expensive and sub-par action. Casio PXs is very light but feels a bit too cheap and not crazy about acoustic piano sounds. Kawai MPs sound good and great action but they are heavy and allegedly known for poor quality and issues based on reviews. If you simply need great piano sounds and action under 40lbs the CP4 is a winner and this is coming from a happy Roland RD-800 owner!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Bad metronome I was going to get either this piece or the CP40. During extensive testing at a music store, I discovered that while the metronome can be in all kinds of time signatures, it cannot NOT be in a time signature. In other words, you will always have a bell instead of a tick every so often. Besides the fact that I just don't like the sound of the bell, this can be really bad if you have a piece that changes time signatures. I ended up with the CP33, and am very happy with it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from High price Yamaha for Casio quality The CP4 sounds good and keys feel good, but not much better than the high end Casio when it comes to build and quality. Also, CP4 is not all that user friendly. I plan to return my as there are much better option for less price. Or for just a little more money I can get far superior quality.
