Much improved from older Pentax flash. Battery door prpoblems made me crazy with my last one. This flash is rugged, by comparison and gave excellent results. Shot a wedding reception for a family member and photos were outstanding and well lit. Unfortunately it has no bounce diffuser built in, though. I created one with a piece of photo paper and it worked nicely.

I bought this flash to replace my Pentax AF360, and I have very pleased with its performance. It provides better coverage, but the best feature is the ability to rotate the flash for bounce when taking vertical shots. The controls are easy to work with and the weather sealing is a nice bonus. It is a great addition to my K-3 kit.

The flash is good for the price

I received it this morning and tested it with my Pentax K-1. It is a good flash given the compactness. Overall its a well designed flash. Pentax should redesign the pouch to accomodate the base mount. The chances of losing the base mount is high.

well I have used it for a bit, I tried to take pictures of my gran daughter but it didn't keep up with it, I have to wait for it at least 5 to 10 sec to buffer so really disappointing overall pictures looks great I meant the ones I was able to capture, but I miss a few shots; now I don't know if batteries are bad or because their brand is not you know something like Duracell ones or what, uses 4 AA Batteries... performs good just have to give it sometime. and for the money that I pay for it, hum well may not be worth it.

question

I know this is Wi-Fi capable but can I get a cord to use it off camera on a flash bracket?
Asked by: Michelle H.
On page 55 of the manual it shows connecting the flash via the 5 pin Pentax P-TTL cord (F5P or F5PL) with the flash connected to the Pentax hot shoe Adapter F. The flash itself does not have any sync. connectors. You can also use the $15 Vello 3 ft. off camera P-TTL cord and hot shoe. If you don't need P-TTL there are many much less expensive solutions, using both a hot shoe and some type of cable. Easiest is PC connector/cable.

question

I currently have a 645Z and was wondering if this flash needs to be in the line of sight of the camera/flash combination for this flash to work in a remote wireless operation?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes the flash must be in the range of the master flash unit. Which is why many people still prefer radio triggers. The receiver for the wireless unit is on the front of the flash. So you must have the flash set so the sensor on the front receives the light. Luckily the head rotates so turn the head to your subject and the body to your light source. It is not the best system but it does work.
