Optex RCTD-20U overview

  • 1Description

The Wireless 2000 Annunciator System from Optex includes an outdoor-rated PIR detector and an RF receiver that chimes when the sensor detects motion. The Wireless 2000 system can be used to alert shop owners when customers enter their store, provide driveway annunciation, and offer perimeter awareness. Furthermore, the receiver can support up to 9 detectors, enabling you to set up a full perimeter around your property.

The RF receiver also features a Form C relay for activation of a variety of electronic equipment. Additional accessories can be added, including the TC-20U wireless door/window contact, the TS-10U wireless push-button transmitter for notification or activation applications, and the TR-20U repeater for applications where extended range between Wireless 2000 devices is necessary.

  • TD-20U Indoor/Outdoor Sensor Transmitter for Wireless 2000 System

The TD-20U Indoor/Outdoor Sensor Transmitter from Optex offers two selectable detection patterns, a 17' fan pattern or a 50' beam pattern. The sensor uses PIR to detect motion, and once motion is detected it sends a signal back to the RC-20U Chime Box Receiver using RF signals. The device is powered by a standard 9V battery (available separately) which can last for approximately 2 years when the sensor is triggered about 250 times a day. There is a red LED that indicates when the sensor has detected motion and when the battery is low. Up to nine TD-20U units can be added to one RC-20U Receiver, enabling you to set up a full perimeter around your property.

When used with the 50' long-range detection pattern, the transmitter is suitable for applications such as driveways, entryways/walkways, warehouse delivery areas, constructions sites, art galleries, drive-up windows, delivery doors, and similar scenarios. When used with the 17' fan (wide) angle detection pattern, the transmitter can be used to monitor hard to see items, merchandise that is prone to shoplifting, inside display cases at jewelry stores, department store dressing rooms or fitting rooms, the unauthorized use of emergency exits, supply rooms or closets, and home or business entry points. With an IP54-rated housing, the sensor is suitable for use in outdoor areas for a wide range of applications.

Optex RCTD-20U reviews

Wireless 2000 Annunciator System is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Few & Very Minor issues We use the Wireless 2000 Annunciator System here at the entry station at Dead Horse Ranch State Park. The one that was here when I started 14 years ago was at the end of it's life. A new one was installed the next year, (13 years ago) and finally died last month. NOTHING lasts forever, especially here in the Arizona sun. If you're careful with setup, locate a reasonably protected place to mount it, and are willing to accept the fact that absolutely nothing on planet Earth is perfect, then you'll be plenty satisfied. Sure if JUST THE RIGHT COLORED CAR goes by in JUST THE RIGHT LIGHTING CONDITIONS, it may not ring (or may ring unexpectedly when triggered on days with cloudy or fluctuating weather). I'm sure that in 13 years of being baked all summer at about a billion degrees Kelvin, this one will quit ringing as well. And, as we did with the last one, we'll give this one an honorable discharge. The part that YOU play in the ultimate success or failure of this thing is: 1) Read the instructions. Carefully. 2) Read as many of these reviews as you can to get a sense of how the Annunciator works. 3) Take your time and set it up intelligently. If you're not the tech-type that's good at this stuff, then ADMIT IT TO YOURSELF and find an accomplished nerd to help you out! I'm just such a nerd, and this thing worked fine from the moment the battery hit the contacts.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not Impressed I have followed the instructions to the letter a half a dozen times trying to set this detector up and moved it to different locations trying to achieve the best spot for activation. Sometimes it plays the chime, sometimes it just "blips", sometimes it just flashes the one and only zone I have. For the price I paid, I feel like I have nothing more than a "baby" monitor as sometimes it does nothing at all. I have adjusted it to "long range" as well as "fan" setting with no "sweet" spot achieved. Don't waste your money here folks!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not cut the mustard for camera work Unit size bigger than expected, Especially sensor.Too big with no angle adjustment. Should also have spot direction instead of only wide view. Should be a switch to shut off chime as other things need to plugged like a camera. Would be nice to have when using 2 units is to have parallel or series connections so either one or both units are on to trigger sensor.I was hoping to use this with camera but has very limited use. I would send it back if it was easier to do so. I would not recommend for my use.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not consistent We purchased this product based on the recommendation of a friend, it arrived quickly and set up was fairly easy. We have the transponder about 100’ feet away from the receiver, a direct shot with no walls or trees in the way. We have repositioned the transponder 3-4 times and it only rings about 60% of the time. We have replaced the original battery and that didn’t make any difference.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent annunciator Bought this for alerting me to anyone who is on my front or back porch. Also alerts to small pets who are the front or back door. Long range and battery lasts about a year with normal traffic. Easy to set up with different sounds and a visual light for each zone. Will be purchasing another sensor for more coverage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top of it class This product is easy to install and even mounted sending unit outside front door in covered area and still sends signal through wall and 70 feet away to receiver. We use it at our bank to alert tellers and they like the idea of a signal back up although they have a camera just makes them more aware of walk ins

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ANNUNCIATOR WORKS The product works, the only problem is 2000 feet is greatly reduce by walls, glass, metal. Therefore, it is necessary to use a REPEATER to enhance (strengthen) the transmission. The 2000 feet is true only for a straight line no interference transmission.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again. this is a great product, easy to install, directions well written. I use it in my butcher shop over the door to announce customers. It allows staff to work at other projects during slow periods but not ignore customers when they come in.
