The HLD-7 Battery Grip from Olympus is designed for use with the OM-D E-M1 Micro Four Thirds digital camera. With one battery in the grip and another in the camera, you can capture approximately 680 shots per charge. The HLD-7 features a shutter release, two control dials and two function buttons for shooting vertically, in order to afford the same ease of operation you enjoy when shooting in horizontal position. Its dust- and splash-proof design also complements the weather resistant construction of the E-M1 for shooting in inclement conditions. Additionally, battery and grip sections are separated, and an optional Grip Strap GS-5 is available for added security. For long periods of continuous shooting, you can use the optional AC Adapter AC-3 to conserve battery power.

That will not fit on the Olympus e-520. There were some third party grips but those are no longer available.

question
Is the HLD-7 Battery Grip rechargeable
No.The grip is able to hold one extra battery inside it, but it is not possible to charge the battery in the grip. You would have to use your standard external charger to charge it. The grip does have an optional AC adapter to power it for studio type applications, but the AC power adapter will not charge the battery.

question
Does the camera use one battery and then switch to the other? in other words can i take an unattended 6 hours live composite exposure?
If you go to the Custom menu and select K utility;select battery priority, then select pbh battery. This will use the battery in the power battery holder first, it will automatically switch to the body battery next. Should get what you are looking for
