question

Can a filter be used directly on this or do I need to buy a separate attachment for my FZ70?
Asked by: Llami L.
Hi Llami. I have this adapter and the Macro lens that screws into it. There is also a telephoto lens that screws into it that I don't have, so I can only comment on the macro lens. Unfortunately, the macro lens doesn't have a filter thread on it, so after you've screwed the lens onto the LA8 adapter, you can't screw a filter on after that. However, I can report that when the combination of LA8 adapter and DMW-LC55 macro lens are used with the FZ70, the quality of images is impressive and probably the best quality shots you will get out of this camera.

question

What is the outside diameter to attach a tripod mount ring? I want to get the right size.
Asked by: Monte L.
A Canon D ring fits the LA8 with a little bit of padding. You can find third party rings which are considerably cheaper.

question

What exactly does it do?
Asked by: Anonymous
The LA8 slips over the lens and screws into the camera body. The other end of the LA8 is also threaded. You can screw in an afocal teleconverter (TC) or some people use a close up filter. Depending on the thread of the TC, you may need a step up or step down ring. It is unwise to use a teleconverter directly on the zoom lens due to weight.
