Part of the interchangeable 8000 series of professional microphones, the MKH 8090 from Sennheiser is a high-end, RF condenser microphone with a wide cardioid pickup pattern. It consists of a microphone head and XLR module, and is an great main microphone for situations that demand a low level of acoustic space be included in the recording.
It functions equally well as a support microphone when capturing larger groups of instruments. The microphone operates on the RF principle, delivering extremely low inherent self-noise, the ability to handle high sound pressure levels without distortion, and a high resistance to difficult climatic conditions, especially moisture.
As part of the 8000 series, the capsule is sonically identical to other microphones in the series for sound consistency across the range. A number of optional modules are available, and when used with the MZD 8000 digital module (sold separately), the microphone functions as a digital microphone with all the benefits that such a configuration brings.

Is this one mic capsule and one pre or a stereo set of 2 capsules and 2 pres ?
Based on the manual and information I am finding on this, this is only 1 mic capsule. It is timbrally identical with the other 8000-series microphones for optimum aural compatibility, so that you can capture a group of instruments in the same way that you would use a stereo pair of mics.
