Canon Cinema Prime CN-E 35mm T1.5 Overview

The Canon CN-E 35mm T1.5 L F Cinema Prime Lens is a manual focus prime lens that covers full-frame and Super 35 sensor formats.

The lens offers a maximum aperture of T1.5, useful when shooting in low-light situations or when you want to capture that exceedingly shallow depth of field look. It has an 11-blade iris that provides round out-of-focus highlights for a natural looking bokeh. The lens barrel features 300° of stepless, smooth rotation from close focus to infinity, giving you a high degree of precision and consistent focus.

The lens is designed to minimize focus breathing, and has innovative glass construction that counteracts barrel expansion and contraction to avoid temperature-induced marking discrepancies. It has focus markings on both sides of the barrel, with the rear markings on an angled surface, making it readable from either side of the camera. It also has a dust- and water-resistant housing to minimize maintenance during normal use.

The CN-E 14mm and the other five CN-E lenses share the same 114mm front barrel diameter, focus rotation, 36° iris rotation, and focus and iris gear positions, allowing for easier swaps.

will this lens work on an EOS-R?

will this lens work on an EOS-R?
Asked by: Susan
This EF mount lens cannot directly mount to the EOS R. Even if it could, the flange depth is off therefore you would be unable to focus to infinity. It can, however, mount on the EOS R if you use the following adapter. Any EF mount lens can use it as well. In effect, it makes the EOS R just like any other EF camera. question

what is the filter size for screw on nd filters? thanks!
Asked by: Brenda S.
Canon's CN-E lenses do not have a filter thread on them. However you can use Schneider's 114mm SSLR to 4.5 Adapter Ring to put ND filters directly on the lens. They even make a kit that comes with the adapter and three ND Filters, B&H # SCCNDK.https://bhpho.to/2yCxRpi

question

Are there uv lens protectors available?
Asked by: Anonymous
This series of Canon Cine Primes have 105mm filter threads. For this superb lens, a superb filter is needed. I suggest B+W for their water white, polished non distortion glass and MRC multi-coated filters.

question

do they make an anamorphic filter to fit the cn-e 35mm t1.5? THANKS!
Asked by: Brenda S.
You are in luck for yes they do make an anamorphic attachment that can be used with this lens. Letus35 AnamorphX-PRO 1.33x Adapter with Lens Support B&H # LEANXPRO13K1 $2,794.95. This will give you a 2.39 image with a 16x9 sensor. If your camera has a 4x3 sensor, get the Letus35 AnamorphX-PRO 1.8x Adapter with Lens Support B&H # LEANXPRO18K1.$3,599.95. This will result in a more oval bokeh and stronger flares.

Yes, it will work on a Canon Rebel T3i. It will be an unusual combination quality-wise but yes it will work. Sort of like a waitress wearing a 5 carat diamond ring.
