Formatt Hitech HT100BW25 overview

  • 1Description

This red filter is ideal for strong contrast improvement since it absorbs green and blue completely and enhances red. Clouds are dramatically improved almost to the mood of a thunderstorm. It is more effective in cutting through haze, and moonlight effects are easily accomplished. It is also suited for infrared photography.

This filter measures 100 x 100mm by 1.5mm thick.

Filter factor is 4 (+2 stops)

Formatt Hitech HT100BW25 reviews

4x4" Red #25 Resin Filter for Black & White Film is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Red Filter is Great I purchased the red filter to complete my spectrum of B and W filters. It provides maximal contrast in the desert where there are many similar tonalities of gray. I use this filter on large format, medium format and 35mm cameras. There are several very nice features about this filter. It is lightweight and because of its size will cover virtually any lens that I have. It was priced right and arrived earlier than initially anticipated. The only downside to this type of filter, a resin filter, is that it is more vulnerable to scratching than glass. But with judicious care it should last several years at least. I have had other HiTech resin filters which have lasted 13 years without any scratches.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It’s resin after all All in all for the price it is hard to argue. The filter arrived in a cheep plastic sleeve that is rather subject to static, and having two cats I decided to toss. Being resin, the filter is extremely prone to being scratched even with a cautious approach to handling and cleaning. I photograph primarily landscape with a large format camera and own a couple of Singh-Ray resin GND’s that I still handle with utter most care and have had no issues with scratching even when handling in the field. Unfortunately, this filter immediately encountered minor scratches when dusted with a blower bulb and a light lens brushing. I will take full responsibility for my misfortune of these light scratches I have encountered but, let buyer beware this is after all, an economic product. On the other hand, the performance and use of the product is perceived excellent. The color appears even across the filter and the size is highly universal.
