Tenba DNA 15 Overview

  • 1Description

The graphite DNA 15 from Tenba is a versatile messenger bag that can hold a professional DSLR with 2-3 lenses, with up to a 70-200 f/2.8 attached to the camera. The camera and lenses fit inside a removable padded insert in the main compartment, and a tablet and laptop up to 15" store inside padded pockets on the bag's interior.

The tapered flap covers the main compartment, providing protection from the elements, and closes via hook-and-loop closures as well as magnetic clips. A removable padded insert provides dividers for organizing your camera gear, and two pockets for smaller accessories. When the insert is removed, the bag is quickly converted from a camera bag to a general-purpose bag that can be used for carrying books, clothes, business documents, and more.

The DNA 15 is made from 600-denier helix with a water-repellent exterior coating. The interior is made from ripstop nylon and brushed tricot. The bag can be worn as a messenger bag with the shoulder strap, or can be carried like a briefcase by the top handle.

Two elastic micro-mesh pockets on the side of the bag, four slip-in pockets on the front of the bag, and two zippered pockets on the flap ensure you'll have plenty of storage.
An adjustable security strap that connects to D-rings anchors the bag in place on your back to keep it from sliding while riding a bicycle.
For extra weather protection, a removable and reversible WeatherWrap cover is included.
A quick-access zipper allows access to your gear without opening the front flap and exposing your equipment to would-be thieves.
A non-slip shoulder pad grips onto your shoulder, while the strap's webbing freely flows through the pad for smooth movement of the bag from front to back.

    Tenba DNA 15 Reviews

DNA 15 Messenger Bag (Graphite) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 71.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great everyday bag I wanted to find a discreet bag so that I can carry my D700 wherever I am and be able to carry everyday items like some gym clothes. As a lot of research and I came across the Tenba DNA 15 and it fit the bill perfectly. It carries my D700 with 24-70 2.8 attached with tons or room to spare. You can customize the main compartment any way you want with the velcro foam dividers. There's also plenty of pockets and zippers for many things and a padded compartment for a tablet or laptop. The compartment that holds the camera can also be removed and can just be used as a messenger bag. This is great quality bag with plenty of space, highly recommended!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from amazing impressive, very well designed. I travel daily all around this 22 million megalopolis -Mexico City- and I can carry at once my two Leicas with lenses attached, my Canon EOS 1V with the 70-200mm, water, food, a lot of film, lap top, and even my Sony A7S with the Nikkor 17-35mm attached, wow, that's quite a lot (of weight too!) and then you have more space for little things in themultiple pockets. The look -graphite- is also important, it is very quiet, stealthy, no one suspects that I carry thousands of dollars on equipment in my bag-very well protected-. The quick access, top zipper, rules, it's a great feature for photographers. Last, I don't like velcro so I just blocked those.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome all around messenger bag for street shooting I have owned this bag for a few weeks. Primarily the reason to purchase this bag is to carry it around in the city with all my gears: one full-frame DSLR + 3x prime lens of various focal lens + filters + my 15 laptop. To retrieve my gear from the bag is extremely easy from the top, and I don't need to spend so much effort to dig out my laptop in order to get through security check. It came with a water-proof cover which is a nice addition since I shoot a lot in bad weathers like rain and snow. Overall, I couldn't find any shortcoming so far.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AAAmazing Bag!!! This bag is awesome! A+. So many pockets for literally all of your gear. I have a DSLR with attached 35mm lens, iPad Pro (large), Kindle Fire tablet, 70-200mm lens, 40mm lens, lens dust blower, rain covers, batteries, Chargers, iPods, cables, screen cleaners, Moleskin Notebooks, Leatherman multitool, pens, paperwork, SD Cards, 35mm film containers, and plenty of room left for more. I would highly recommend this bag! The material is excellent, top quality, and the bag is super nice to look at. I honestly cannot say enough good things about this bag. Well worth the purchase price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My old standby I have had this similar bag for 6 years. It was stolen recently and I was crushed! I loved the original fabric and construction. I ordered the new one and although its my same bag through and through I wasn't happy with color choices or the new materials. I shoot a lot in Mountain areas and the canvas offered just picks up stickers and other twigs etc along the way. I ordered the rip stop nylon and hopefully it will be my favorite once again. I do like some of the new features like the slide lock. Two thumbs up for that one, especially if you have ever been freezing outside and tried to open anything with a clip, brutal.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from DNA 15 - the right DNA I enjoy this bag: very practical, a lot of pockets and a well though access. It fits my Canon 7D with its battery pack, a 50 mm, a 35-70 and the 70-200 LIS II f/2.8 not to mention an iPad Mini, a bottle of water, and a few things hanging down the bag... and a lot of things I always believe I need to carry with me. I tried the DNA 13. I need the extra space in the DNA 15 for the 7D and its battery pack.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from JUST A GREAT BAG Finally I found the bag that I have been looking for for several years. The design is great. I have a Canon 70D with a Tamron 16-300 lens with the hood attached in the center section. On the left side in one section is my Tamron 24-75 with the hood attached. On the right side is my Canon 60mm macro with hood attached in one section and a Canon 430 speed light in the other section. It has many pockets for all of the items that one usually carries. It has several ways of accessing your equipment. It is light and sturdy. The only problem is what to do with all of the other bags that are now sitting in my closet that no longer meets my needs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag, works as good as it looks - highly recommended This bag is as good as it gets for cloaking your camera gear. It holds my D810 with the 70-200 F2.8 as well as either a 24-120 and two 1.4 tele-converters or one 27-70 F2.8. The camera can fit lens down and the zip open top lets you take your pictures, then sneak the camera and big lens back into what looks like day bag, not a camera bag. You also have some room for a MBPro 13, the MBPro power supply and a portable hard drive to store the pictures. It can also hold a few other small items, like spare batteries and memory cards. You can also fit 2 battery chargers if you utilize the outside pockets which are reasonably opaque, but you will give yourself away to someone who has a good eye if they can see through the tiny weave. The folks who have noted the velcro front close mechanism as being too loud may not have simply tried to 'slide down' instead of try to pull straight open. Admittedly, the velcro is not totally silent when using the 'open down' motion, but it really does work better than I expected. Kudos too for the spare strap that allows you to wear it like a semi back pack if you need a break from carrying it side saddle when it is full of gear.

I am unsure which tenba bag to buy, the DNA11 or DNA15. I do not what something which is too big yet I would like it to be light enough to carry a Nikon D800 with a 28-300 lens and one additional lens 14-28. Which one is the smallest I can go to include these items. Thanks
    Asked by: Anonymous
The DNA 15 has a larger capacity but is designed to carry a 15 laptop and tablet along with your camera and lenses. I do use this bag when traveling however, it's not very practical for hiking trips or street shooting . The DNA 11 is smaller but would easily accommodate the equipment you mention it would be lighter and less cumbersome in the field.

    Asked by: Trevor
I found a tag that says made in China but... It's a great bag. Very versatile, sturdy, and can be configured in many ways to hold lots of equipment. I highly recommend it. Good luck.

Hi! I usually carry my Canon 77D and two lenses in the TENBA BYOB 10 camera insert. I am looking for a messenger bag that would easily contain my Byob 10 insert and a few other things. Would the Tenba DNA 15 messenger bag be ok?
    Asked by: Nicole
The DNA 15 will easily fit the BYOB 10 with extra space left over. You could also fit the BYOB 10 in a DNA 13 and there would be approx. 2 inches left over on the side.

I have a Canon 5dIV and looking to have a 70-200, 24-70 on camera, 50 MM and a Canon 5dIII body and flash. Anyone know if this will all fit?
    Asked by: Anonymous
It will be tight due to the extra body but it will fit. Won’t give you room for a flash or filter system

Does this bag have any external attachment points? Say for a Filter case or other case?
    Asked by: David C.
The DNA series bags do not have external attachment points. However, the Tenba Cooper 15, which has a similar feature set, has MOLLE-compatible loops on both sides of the bag to attach accessories.

If the bag held the body plus a 70-220 attached, would there also be room for it to carry a 24-70/2.8? I can't tell for sure from the pic with the 70-200, but the slot with the flash looks like it may too narrow.
    Asked by: Melissa S.
I have found that this bag is quite roomy and will hold more than you mentioned. I put as many as three lens in the bag along with my flash. The only draw back is it becomes too heavy to carry. I hope this helps.
