Sony LAEA4 Overview

The black A-Mount to E-Mount Lens Adapter from Sony enables you to attach virtually any A-mount lens to an Alpha E-mount full-frame digital camera body. Teleconverters and Minolta XI lenses are not compatible. The adapter features a built-in AF motor, aperture-drive mechanism and Translucent Mirror Technology to enable full-time, continuous, TTL phase-detection autofocus. AF is supported with all A-mount lenses except STF models, and auto exposure will be enabled with all compatible lenses.

Translucent Mirror Technology effectively directs light to both the imaging and focus sensors simultaneously, enabling AF to work seamlessly even during video recording and continuous shooting. For video, aperture is fixed at the maximum f/stop of the lens or at f/3.5, whichever is lower.

The adapter is configured with a tripod mount for supporting large, heavy lenses. An ALC-B55 camera body cap, ALC-R1EM rear lens cap and carrying pouch are supplied.

Has anyone tried this with the FX6? ( I realize it is not really in full release yet, but they are out there). I have about 5 A-Mount lenses from my A99. While I wouldn't want to use it as a primary option, I like the idea of keeping these lenses useful if I decide to get the FX6.
Asked by: Tyson
Yes, this is adapter will allow you to use your A mount lenses on the FX6. The AF speed maybe slower but that is all.

Anyone ever use this with an FX6? ( I realize it is barely out, but I figure someone might have tried it) I have about 5 good A-Mount lenses that I'd love to keep useful. While I don't plan to make this my primary lens choice, It would be nice to have the option.
Asked by: Tyson
I have used an A to E adapter that has electronic pass through for exposure and autofocus, but not one with translucent mirror technology. The Sony adapters work well with A mount lenses, including old Konica-Minolta A mount lenses. The older lenses with fewer pins may not support some of the automatic features. Are you sure you need the translucent mirror feature? The translucent feature is for continuous focus during video production.

Hello I want to know if the Sony LAEA4 adapter ...

Hello I want to know if the Sony LAEA4 adapter it's capatible with Tamron lenses for sony ?
Asked by: Nicolas
The Sony LA-EA4 is designed to adapt A-mount AF lenses, including those from Tamron, to full frame Sony E-mount bodies. The lenses will autofocus but might require micro-adjustments in the camera body to get the lens to focus precisely. If you have the newer Tamron lenses (PZD or USD lenses) with the built-in focus motor I would recommend getting the LA-EA3 adapter instead. The EA3 is less expensive than the EA4 and provides more precise focusing with these new lenses. Keep in mind that the older Tamron lenses without the built-in focus motors will not autofocus with the LA-EA3.

Will this work with Sony DT 16–80 on A7III?

Will this work with Sony DT 16–80 on A7III?
Asked by: Weihong
My sony A5000 is an e-mount. This lens adapter allows me to use sony A-mount lenses (more of them - has been around longer) on my sony e-mount camera. If your camera is an E-mount, this will work if you desire to use any of the A-mount lenses.
