It is bundled with a high-performance dual core RAID PCIe 2.0 x8 controller card that offloads complicated RAID calculations from the computer or the enclosure to the dedicated RAID engine. High performance can be achieved with a lower cost of ownership compared to RAID embedded sub-systems. RAID setup and maintenance can be controlled via built-in web browser interfaces, and the unit supports e-mail notifications and SNMP trap.
Utilizing high-bandwidth 2400 MB/s mini-SAS (SFF-8088) cabling, the EliteSTOR rackmount chassis supports SAS and SATA hard drives to deliver superior read/write speeds that are crucial in performance-driven environments such as the video editing industry. The mini-SAS connection combines eight hard drive connections into a single cable, reducing possible points of failures while preserving uninterrupted data transfer. A built-in SAS expansion port enables the system to connect up to 5 units or 120 hard disk drives daisy-chained together.
System status information such as the hard drive, power supply, and cooling fan status are provided by the LED. All necessary hardware comes standard, including the mini-SAS cable, hard drive tray modules, and built-in mounting rail. The EliteSTOR rackmount chassis supports both SAS and SATA drives, allowing users the option to choose between high-performance and high-capacity storage solutions.
Note: Sans Digital recommends the use of enterprise-class hard drives when in use with any RAID controller applications. Standard desktop or green desktop drives may not be supported and may compromise RAID system stability and performance.
Supports 6G SAS and 6G SATA Technology
The EliteSTOR rackmount chassis supports both 6G SAS and SATA drives.
The PCIe 2.0 x8 dual core RAID controller card supports up to RAID 60. Dedicated hardware RAID engines offload RAID calculations from the main computer to the controller's processor, providing overall high performance.
With support for 6G SATA and SAS hard drives as well as 24 Gb/s of data bandwidth, the chassis is capable of delivering over 1000 MB/s read and write performance.

Web-Based GUI for Management and Monitoring
Built-in web based GUI for setup and monitoring allows management of the RAID status using a web browser. Detailed event information is saved in an event log and critical events can be e-mailed using SMTP. SNMP trap is also supported. All management and monitoring can be performed on any web browser with remote monitoring.
Built-in staggering spin-up for hard drives during power up extends the life/duty cycle of the hard drives and power supply.
Up to 5 enclosures or 120 hard drives can be daisy-chained together for capacity expansion.
The rackmount chassis supports both SAS and SATA hard drives to meet the requirements of different applications with different price and performance characteristics. Cost-effective SATA drives can be used for capacity-oriented storage such as disk-to-disk backup, data archiving, and digital video editing. Alternatively, enterprise-level SAS drives can be employed for I/O intensive applications such as transactional databases.
Redundant Power Supply
Optional hot-swappable, redundant power is useful for protection against power failures. Power supply status can be easily monitored by the status LED and audible alarm alert.
