Tether Tools TB-MC-005 Overview

The MC Multi Cable Mounting Plate from TetherBLOCK is designed to prevent accidental removal of a cable from your camera's data ports, therefore preventing damage to the port and to your camera. By snaking a USB or FireWire, or HDMI cable through the TetherBLOCK's S-channel and attaching the TetherBLOCK to your camera's tripod mount you'll be able to shoot tethered to a computer without fear that a trip over the cable will damage the camera's sensitive data ports.

This second version of the mounting plate replaces the TetherBLOCK Slim, and adds a third channel for thick heavy duty cables as well as thin and medium sized cables. It has both a 1/4"-20 and a 3/8" tripod thread mount, allowing it to be mounted directly onto a tripod head. A 1/4"-20 slotted screw attaches the plate to the camera, and can be tightened with a coin. On the bottom of the plate are two 1/4"-20 threaded holes for adding accessories like microphones or video monitors.

Prevents camera damage and lost images by ensuring data cables do not get accidentally pulled out of camera.
Fits camera's tripod mount via either a 1/4"-20 or 3/8" thread mount.
Multiple channels accept FireWire, USB and HDMI cables.
Non-slip friction pads prevent camera twist.

For Sony a7m4, it is too wide. And I can not exchange battery.

Tether tools products just work. The tether Block is the best way to keep your tether cable connected and secure.

its okay, left a lot to be desired

Things I don't like about it, - It is not tool-less - it leaves cables with to much of a sharp bend for my liking - mine has quickly lost 2 of the 4 sticker rubber feet from the bottom so it doesn't get a positive grip and can shift on the bottom of the camera -there is no build-in Arca-Swiss plate so you have to add your own quick release plate -it doesn't have a way to stay secured attached to the tether cable if you remove it from the camera things I do like, it does help to secure and protect the cable to the camera rather than nothing at all other than the rubber sticker feet the construction seems so far to be fairly solid I wouldn't recommend this to others as there are other options on the market

The real deal: Cable protection at its best

This plate really gives me peace of mind as opposed to the other solutions. It isolates the cord and removes accidental damage out of the equation. The only thing that you can pull is the USB off of the computer, and that won't do any damage as opposed to a mini-usb or usb-c outlet. Strongly recommend and worth the price.

Hope more sizes

If its width is more suitable for a mirrorless camera, such as 3.6cm, it would be better

I Skirted Spending The Money For Awhile

Always found something else cheaper. That kind of worked. It's just a darn block of metal, I can get away for cheaper. Wrong. Just buy this. Like all TT products, what they make is the gold standard. This block works well with my skinnier older cables and the bulkier heavy newer cables. It has a nice selection of tripod/mounting holes. Minor challenge is you need a screwdriver or coin to really tighten the plate to the base of the camera, and to get it loose again. But that's to be expected since the mounting surface has to be flush, so the bolt has to be recessed. Making something necessary besides a fingernail to tighten/loosen. Yes it is more expensive. Should have spent the money once when it first came out and not a couple of times on cheaper alternatives which just didn't work as well.

Wider than mirrorless cameras

This block really is a lifesaver. I've tried several methods of protecting the port connections on my camera and this seems by far to be the most effective. It's just one solid metal piece that isn't going to break from normal use. I only have 2 critiques: - As another reviewer points out, the block is a little too wide for mirrorless cameras. It still fits on my Nikon Z6ii, but it'd be better if it were narrower. - It'd be better if the block could accommodate 2 wires at the same time. I shoot tethered to a laptop (USB-C) and also run an HDMI signal to a small Atomos monitor. I'd really love if both the USB-C and the HDMI cables could go through the block at the same time even though I realize that seems like I'm asking to contradict the previous critique by increasing the block's size! It'd be nice if there were a way to do both.

How can I use an L Bracket for mi Canon 5DS with this?
Asked by: Juan Pablo
There is no real way other than to mount this underneath your L-bracket. However, this will defeat the purpose of the L-bracket.
