question

I have a Macbook Pro, but run all my portable hard drives in NTFS (for all my movies and TV shows via my media player), can these drives be formatted in NTFS? Or do they have to be formatted in Mac OS journaled to work?
Asked by: Mark L.
I believe they can be, but i would avoid NTFS like the plague. I have had many recovery issues with NTFS and have sworn off it.

If you have two of these is there any way to set them up as a RAID5? Thunderbolt should be more than enough bandwidth for that to work but wondering if the WD Utilities or something similar will allow me to do this. Thanks

The WD Utilities do not offer RAID5.

question

I know this unit is not supposed to be portable, as in throw it in your computer backpack and go like some of the the other western digital portable drives. But has someone had any experience on just how much travel or moving this thing will tolerate?
Asked by: Brad M.
its a nice unit and I do travel with it at times. If you are careful it will be fine. Carry on is no problem. If you put it in checked baggage I would wrap it real well in a camera bag in a roller bag that is filled with clothes too. If you are not on a plane and just driving it will probably last forever if you are the type that generally keeps your stuff nice. Pack it in your oversized camera bag
