Fujifilm instax mini 90 Neo Classic overview

  • 1Description

The black INSTAX Mini 90 Neo Classic Instant Camera from Fujifilm is a compact camera that supports the use of Fujifilm INSTAX mini-type film to produce instant credit card sized prints. It features a 60mm lens that is capable of focusing as close as 11.8" away. A built-in flash provides additional illumination for exposures when working in low-light conditions and automatic exposure control helps to ensure consistently accurate exposures in a variety of lighting conditions. An optical viewfinder with integrated target spot is available for image composition and an exposure counter is incorporated into the design to visually display the number of exposures remaining in the film pack.

Party Mode
A longer exposure enables more ambient light to enter, making brighter backgrounds when the foreground is illuminated by the flash.
Kids Mode
Kids mode is useful to capture fast moving subjects like children and pets, and is effective even in low light conditions.
Landscape Mode
Shoot in landscape mode when you are shooting subjects that are more than 9' from your camera.
Macro Mode
The INSTAX Mini 90 can focus as close as 11.8" when in macro mode, allowing you to shoot subjects very close to your camera's lens.
Bulb Exposure Mode
This mode allows the shutter to stay open for up to 10 seconds.
Double Exposure Mode
While shooting with the double exposure mode you can expose the same frame with two different images, giving you creative expression and unique photos.
Brightness Control
Four brightness controls (normal, bright, brighter, and dark) allow you to manually adjust the brightness of the photo.
Tripod Socket
The tripod socket on the bottom of the camera is especially useful when shooting long exposures using the bulb mode.
Rechargeable Battery
The rechargeable li-ion battery holds a charge for up to 10 packs of instant film.

Fujifilm instax mini 90 Neo Classic reviews

INSTAX Mini 90 Neo Classic Instant Camera (Black) is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 218.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from A level above similar polaroid product A well made plastic build quality. Lens resolution similar to polaroid, not great. If taking portraits, use macro mode to fill head and shoulders shot, use flash on a tripod and image quality will be at it's best for the lens. Exposure system seems to be reasonable good. film image is small as described but still gives that polaroid magic look, grainless and nostalgic at the same time. like the size of the camera and the additional features like bulb exposure. Can use a light meter to get close to proper long exposure using 800 ISO and aperture of lens, thus timing your seconds of bulb exposure. Still like the instant image mojo

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tangible fun From click to print in minutes, the Neo provides a super fun, hassle-free photo experience. Compared to a Polaroid Spectra using Impossible film, the print quality (color, contrast, etc.) is far superior, the wait time significantly less, with the only disadvantage being the small image size. It's also cheaper to operate, at $0.75 per shot. A nice consideration in the camera design is the two shutter release buttons, situated for portrait or landscape position. The viewfinder is nice and bright, but not well calibrated to the lens, so composition is hit-and-miss. Best used for artistic fun and to give kids/people a good laugh with a tangible memory.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Surprisingly versatile and fun to use. Instant photography is always a blast but mini 90 has increased the versatility of your typical point and shoot instant camera. With better flash settings, double exposures and a bulb mode, you are really only limited by your imagination. Pros: Several camera settings Decent ergonomics Multiple flash settings Cons: Price (rather expensive for an instant camera) No Tripod mount for landscape shots. Overall, it's a great camera if you're looking for more than the washed out portrait shots typical of most instant cameras. Be prepared to spend your paycheck on film because I find myself wanting to use this camera often.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of fun This camera has been a lot of fun. Each picture is a bit expensive to just shoot anything you want, but it makes you think about each shot and whether or not you want to do it. Totally different from having a memory stick--I guess that's what I like about it. The features are cool, I guess, I don't mess with them much. The picture quality is pretty old-school which could be good or bad depending on how you look at it. I like it. The viewfinder is abysmal...probably the only reason I went with 4 instead of 5 stars. Pretty useless...as I now shoot looking over the top rather than trying to see something through the finder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great fun Very easy to use. Photos on small prints are very sharp with lovely color reproduction - just watch out for the focusing on your subjects as the camera may miss it if they are too close (remember the macro setting!). Arguably the most important aspect is that it's a lot of fun to take photos with. We plan to bring this to parties and other group events, as it's a great and memorable device to pass around and watch people's reactions to the film developing. The only downside I find is that Instax Mini film is on the expensive side, so don't go crazy with shots as you may do in the digital world. Otherwise, get one and have fun!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Addictively Fun I love this camera so much that I'm buying a backup in case the first one ever fails on me. The camera looks fantastic and gives the user some much needed control over exposure modes and ability to shut down the flash. But be very careful, once you have run a few packs of film through it you will realize how addictive this device is. I have so much fun giving away photos to strangers on the street and then snapping an extra pic for myself. It's a great ice breaker and people are always delighted. The rainbow film has become my favorite and really adds punch to the images so do try some in addition to the regular white frames. Also, one reviewer below says to not shoot on the dark setting outdoors. This is nonsense, I almost exclusively shoot on the darker setting becomes it adds richness to the colors and deepens the tones.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Totally Worth It The camera itself is very stylish and compact compared to other polaroids I was considering (such as the Fujifilm Instax 210 wide, which is comically huge), and it is very easy to tote around with me to capture my senior year at football games, parties, etc. It's an instant hit with friends and family. The moment you pull it out, everyone wants their picture taken. The pictures themselves are very small, about the size of a credit card. Just be aware that your pictures will be small! The camera is also subject to camera-shake, so learn to have a steady hand. I highly recommend this product!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it, and it's a challenge of sorts I love this camera. I'm a professional artist and mostly known for street type of photography. I have works in museums etc. The cool thing about this camera is that it brings me back to the mentality of no post production. You either get it or you dont, no fixing it later. This camera was kicking my butt in that sense, and it took a renewed commitment to really look at what I was doing and it's been great. Get one, it will challenge you in the best of ways. Really love it, and it's quite flexible in what you can do.
