Sigma 24-105mm f/4 DG HSM Art Overview

The definition of versatility, the Nikon F-mount 24-105mm f/4 DG OS HSM from Sigma is an Art-series zoom covering a useful wide-angle to short-telephoto range. Featuring a constant f/4 maximum aperture, this lens strikes an ideal balance between a portable form factor along with a bright enough design for working in available lighting conditions. Complementing this design, an Optical Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake throughout the zoom range for sharper handheld shooting. A Hyper Sonic Motor also contributes to intuitive handling and provides especially fast and quiet autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override.

Complementing the physical design, this lens is also distinguished by its advanced optical layout, which include a series of low dispersion elements and three aspherical elements. These specialized elements reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations throughout the zoom range in order to realize a high degree of sharpness and clarity. Additionally, a Super Multi-Layer Coating has also been applied to individual elements to suppress lens flare and ghosting for improved contrast and color rendering in strong lighting conditions.

As part of the Art line within Sigma's Global Vision series, this lens is designed to achieve truly notable optical performance and is ideally suited for creative and artistic applications.
Standard zoom is designed for FX-format Nikon F-mount cameras, however can also be used with DX models where it provides a 36-157.5mm equivalent focal length range.
Constant f/4 maximum aperture maintains a portable form factor and also offers consistent performance throughout the zoom range.
Two F Low Dispersion (FLD) elements and two Special Low Dispersion (SLD) elements markedly reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing throughout the zoom range for improved clarity and color accuracy.
Three aspherical elements control spherical aberrations and distortion for increased sharpness and accurate rendering.
A Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting and contribute to producing contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery, even in backlit conditions.
Integrated HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor), along with an internal focusing system, realizes quick and quiet autofocus, which is further complemented by an optimized AF algorithm to produce smoother focusing performance. The HSM also permits full-time manual focus control simply by rotating the focus ring at any time.
Optical Stabilizer system minimizes the appearance of camera shake to benefit making sharper imagery when shooting handheld.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm is constructed from durable, fluorine-coated polycarbonate and also features a carbon feather film for smooth performance when working with fast continuous shooting rates.
Constructed using a Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material for greater precision and use in wide temperature variations. Additionally, a brass bayonet affords improved mounting accuracy and rigidity.
This lens is compatible with the optional Sigma USB Dock for fine-tuning different lens characteristics and updating its firmware.

This lens is sharp all over, with moderate and sensible contrast. The only two things to complain is the weight and its 82mm filter thread.

Beautiful images, very well built and a great value.Sigma's Art series lenses have brought great quality precision optic's and beautiful build quality to the field. This is not a light lens but not too heavy for all that it is. I have read great review's on all of the Art series lenses

I mainly used this lens for my mountain adventures. So of course I'm going to be shooting from f5.6 - 11. Something is not right with my copy I think. It's incredibly soft even at f11, even my 85 1.8s is sharper at 1.8... I know it's a sigma art lens, but it's not what I expected it to be. I'm not sure if it's user error on my end with my z6, or if I received a bad copy. I love the focal length from 24-105, it's so convenient in every way and the f4 bokeh is superb. Unfortunately I'm just going to return it and stick with my Nikon 24-70. Had a great time getting the composition I needed with this lens, but it gives me the quality as if I'm shooting in dx mode :/ I still recommend this lens if you're starting out in photography. Or if you're traveling (Shot with Nikon z6 with ftz adapter. Ftz adapter has no loss in sharpness.)

Good for my needs, wish it was sharper

I just had my D800 cleaned & rebuilt by Nikon. Looking for a lens to put on and permanently leave because of the dirt & dust in a lot of the places I shoot. Had been using several prime lenses & a Nikon 24-120 f4 until now that was pretty good. I have several Sigma Art lenses I'm really happy with so thought this would be the ticket. Not so much, it's sharp but not breathtaking. I don't regret the purchase as it works for what I need it for. Not sure how they arrived at the Art designation.

several years before being able to acquire the 24/105 nikon lense. nikon lenses achieve a much higher quality, especially in dark spaces, where gray shadows are reduced which is called empastado. Without a doubt I stay with nikon.
