Netgear R7000 Overview

  • 1Description

The R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi Router from Netgear uses a dual core 1GHz processor and AC1900 Wi-Fi technology to deliver speed and performance that's perfect for gaming and streaming HD video. It supports both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz wireless frequencies, providing up to 1900 Mbps (600 on the 2.4 GHz band and 1300 on the 5.0 GHz band) data transfer rates.

The Nighthawk router utilizes Beamforming+ technology, meaning that unlike omnidirectional Wi-Fi which fans the signal out within a range, it communicates directly with devices such as tablets or smartphones, and beams a signal specifically to the device. This reduces interference, and provides stronger, faster, and more reliable connections. Mobile Wi-Fi speeds are much faster than previous technology thanks to the router's high-powered amplifiers and antennas.

The R7000 Nighthawk router also supports both Google Voice assistant and Amazon's Alexa for added functionality.

Advanced upstream and downstream QoS optimize gaming and streaming.
The router is iTunes compatible, so you can play music that is stored on a hard drive or USB memory stick through AirPlay or Apple Remote.
Netgear Genie provides a personal dashboard to monitor, control & repair your home network.
ReadySHARE allows you to wirelessly access and share a USB hard drive and printer across your wireless network via two USB ports.

    Netgear R7000 Reviews

    R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 Smart Wi-Fi Router is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 66.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from R7000 Nighthawk AC1900 I needed a router that coud handle my Up to 30Mbps/5Mbps internet service. Primarily it to connect wirelessly to ROKU and a second laptop often used in another room. It does that. The wifi signal Is powerful without a repeater which isn't a good idea anyway in my view. The signal goes through two walls and ROKU responds instantly. So too does the laptop. Setup was fast and simple. The only complaint I have is the antennae aren't very secure. They flop over from an upright position easily.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best We have Mac-book an I pod touch, three Android devices and streaming to LG DVD player for more than a week, alas not all the time but weekends and evenings they might be, so far looks like a super device not a drop in service connection, one advice don't use ac powered usb drive to any of the usb hubs (2.0 or 3.0) the hubs on the router are usb BUS powered, they will work with USB thumb drive or regular usb powered stand alone drives they won't be able regulate voltage on AC powered usb drives so the 2.0 or 3.0 usb ports might shut your AC powered usb drives, I'm using a Thosiba 1 TB Canvio and it works all the time on USB 2.0 hub. Next step is to get a NAS drive with ethernet cable for me and always fast prompt delivery from B@H

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I had hoped for or expected! I got this router after some research and several recommendations for it. I expected great things. My service is 100mps up and down (EPB in Chattanooga TN. Known as the fastest isp in the country, can deliver a true gig both ways for $ more per mo.). When I put three devices to work the service starts to crawl. Also the range is supposed to be amazing but with 3 walls (1brick) and 40 or less feet away it drops off to nothing and I get Bumpkis. I know that the walls present a challenge for any router but this one was supposed to be able to handle it. Not a happy camper!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install & powerful signal As the many reviews of this product indicate, it is easy to set up. Also, our previous router did not provide a strong signal through the entire house, but the Nighthawk does. The network mapping feature is great in that it allows you to name each of the devices connected to the network. We do not use it for gaming but we do use it for Netflix streaming and it does provide good throughput for streaming. Also we see a boost in internet access speed for the main desktop PC that is wired to the Nighthawk.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stable, fast, runs DD-WRT well I recommend using DD-WRT firmware on this router, as it opens up a lot of configuration options that you would not have using the standard firmware. If you aren't a technical person, it has a quick and painless configuration wizard that gets the router up and running with a basic configuration in seconds. It is stable, and provides strong signals on both of the wi-fi radios. I'm happy with the purchase, and I recommend this router to anyone looking to upgrade to AC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great range, very fast and stable. Great so far. The range on this is amazing. I can get a full signal when I'm out working in my garage. I was able to remove the wireless range extender I had plugged in upstairs for my office. Very fast and stable too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Product This router is extremely fast and has a long range. Set up was easy on my Windows 7 system and it found all the computers in my environment. It did not find some printers that were setup for manual configuration -- once that was changed all was well. The unit's diaplay is very good and the software is straight forward. I had to add a Netgear switch to get extra ethernet connections, and this eas easy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great I'm very happy with it. Particularly that it can be set with wireless off and has a button on top to turn wireless on/off when you need it. This was a must for me as I did not want it broadcasting wireless all the time. It installed easily, easy to setup. I think it did provide a speed improvement over my old router as well as providing wireless.
