Kawai CE220 overview

  • 1Description

The CE220 from Kawai is a cabinet-styled digital piano featuring authentic grand piano sounds, electric pianos, and an assortment of general sounds, such as strings, etc. Its 88 keys utilize the company's AWA PROII wooden-key, graded hammer action with counterbalancing for an authentic feel, while the sounds are generated using Progressive Harmonic Imaging. The cabinet features built-amplifiers and speakers, sports a premium black satin finish, and a matching bench is included with the piano.

The CE220 offers an easy-to-use two-track/three-song recorder, perfect for self-evaluation of keyboard performances or for capturing a moment of inspiration. The 192-note polyphony means that even dense passages do not trigger muted voices. USB functionality includes saving and playback from a USB device and input jacks allow for connecting outside sources for playback through the piano's audio system. The cabinet features three pedals - soft, sostenuto, and damper (with half-damper capability) and a sliding key cover helps protect the keyboard when not in use.

    Kawai CE220 reviews

    CE220 - Wooden-Key Action Digital Piano is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great value at this price point. We bought this digital piano from a local store and are very happy with it so far. This model may not have the biggest selection of sounds or the most powerful speaker system but you cannot find a nicer action in a piano under $2,000. I have tested different models from several manufacturers, and to me the CE220 compares favorably to others in its price range. The piano's cabinet is refined enough for a living room or even a church auditorium. After looking at the manual if found there are actually several customizable settings for sound and touch, and recording options to either on-board memory or to a USB drive - more than you would expect from a simpler control panel. Each of the 22 voices seem to be of excellent quality and are a real pleasure to experiment with. If you want a quiet, portable, inexpensive piano to practice on then this could be a solid option for the budget shopper.
