Nikon 26361B overview

  • 1Description

The silver Nikon COOLPIX S3500 Digital Camera is a point-and-shoot equipped with a 20.1MP image sensor and the EXPEED C2 image-processing engine. It also has a 7x optical zoom NIKKOR ED lens with a focal length of 4.7-32.9 (35mm equivalent: 26-182mm). The lens has a maximum aperture of f/3.4 at the wide-angle end and f/6.4 at telephoto. Frame shots and view playback on the 2.7" LCD monitor, which has a resolution of 230k pixels and anti-reflection coating. The S3500 records HD 720p videos with sound and offers a dedicated one-touch button to immediately start your recording. The optional EG-CP14 A/V cable allows you to connect your camera to an HDTV for clear large screen viewing of your videos.

Lens-shift Vibration Reduction compensates for camera shake and helps minimize blur in photos taken in low light or at longer focal lengths. When you don't want to worry about camera settings, the S3500 provides numerous assistive features. Scene Auto Selector automatically picks the optimal camera settings based on the scene the camera reads or, if you prefer, choose from 20 distinct scenes the one that closest matches what you are shooting and the camera will select the best settings. Subject Tracking locks on to moving subjects and keeps focus right where you want it and Motion Detection recognizes a moving subject and adjusts the camera's settings to freeze the action. Smart Portrait System activates several features to take the ideal portrait. In addition, Special Effects are available during shooting to add an artistic touch, Quick Effects can be applied after shooting and an enhanced Glamour retouch function will add dynamism and a touch of beauty to your portraits. The S3500 also supports the optional Eye-Fi wireless memory cards for wireless transfer to smart devices.

20.1MP Sensor and EXPEED C2 Processor
The camera's image sensor has a high resolution of 20.1MP and works with the EXPEED C2 image processing engine to produce clear, detailed photos and videos
26-182mm NIKKOR Lens
The S3500 features a 7x optical zoom NIKKOR ED lens with a focal length of 4.7-32.9 (35mm equivalent: 26-182mm). The lens features a maximum aperture range of f/3.4-6.4. The lens features ED (Extra-low Dispersion) glass, which allows for superior sharpness and color correction by minimizing chromatic aberration. ED glass offers all the benefits of calcium fluorite-based glass--with none of the drawbacks.
2.7" LCD Monitor
The 2.7" TFT LCD screen features a 230k-pixel resolution and an anti-reflection coating for improved visibility in bright sunlight.
Capture HD 720p video and, thanks to the built-in microphone, accompanying audio.
Image Stabilization
Lens-shift Vibration Reduction helps minimize the blur caused by camera shake, especially in dim light and at telephoto focal lengths.
Motion Blur Reduction
The camera automatically selects faster shutter speeds to compensate for subject movement when it's picked up via the Motion Detection function. Motion Blur Reduction, like Vibration Reduction in the lens, also helps the camera compensate for movement caused by unsteady hands, in order to prevent blurry shots.
80-1600 ISO Sensitivity
High ISO sensitivity permits the maximum use of available natural light, avoiding the need for flash or long exposure times. By enabling the selection of faster shutter speeds, it also makes it easier to capture fast-moving subjects with greater clarity. Low ISO provides rich, saturated colors.
Smart Portrait System
Each of the advanced functions of the Smart Portrait System is designed to help produce consistently great portraits.
Scene Auto Selector/Easy Auto Mode
These functions provide quick, carefree picture-taking in a variety of situations by determining the subject and surrounding conditions, then automatically selecting the appropriate scene mode for the shot.
Subject Tracking
Follows the movement of your subject as you shoot. The focus will remain on the subject no matter where or how fast it goes.
Special effects can be added to your image before shooting, while quick effects can be applied after shooting and during playback. Also benefit from an enhanced Glamour retouch function.
Supports Eye-Fi wireless memory cards for wireless image transfer.
Languages Supported

Nikon 26361B reviews

COOLPIX S3500 Digital Camera (Silver) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from I expected more... I use this camera to take pictures of my vacation and meeting friends and relatives. I liked the overall equipment but expect a better response in its use as often gives the message to wait because it is saving the previous which is a bit frustrating depending on when that happens, overall I am satisfied because the quality of the photos is very good in various occasions that I used.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Pocket Camera I got this for my wife and she loves it. It's compact, light weight and fits easily in her purse. But, it's also a very capable camera, easy to use and takes excellent pictures. We have both been delighted with the quality of the pictures and the features the camera provides.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to Teach, Easy to Use I purchased several of these cameras to use with a summer camp photography program, and they worked great. They are simple enough for youth to learn to use, but have great mode and editing features as well. They take lovely photos.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from You will have to tweak to make it faster It is pretty slow right when you take out of the box because all the features are on. i.e.: effects options, automatic preview and in max resolution. The speed between pictures is quite slow when all the features are on, and if you are taking pictures of your kids or something that requires more agility you will be disappointed. However, if you turn some of those off (i.e. the option to apply effects right after you took a picture), the camera will function a little faster in between pictures. I am using a very fast SD card, so I know this is not slowing down the camera. Even with all the features off, the camera still takes a while to record the pictures and allow you to point and shoot again (even using lower resolutions). I am a Nikon fan and proud owner of a D3100 (which is outstanding!); they could have done a better job here...but for the price, I believe it says everything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome little camera I bought this camera for my daughter's birthday, and she absolutely loves it. It's the perfect size for her, and she loves the pink colour. The camera is very small, which is great for her. But, even with bigger hands, like mine, it's still easy to operate. The LCD screen is nice and bright, making it easy to take pictures. The zoom range is quite amazing for such a tiny camera. Picture quality is very good.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great picture taking camera! I first opened it up, charged it for 2 hours and started to explore :) the pictures that this camera takes are really quite clear and hd. You do have the option to edit pictures right on the camera which is pretty neat. When you do pick a filter for one of the pictures, it takes probably about 30 seconds for the camera to add the filter or effect, which is kind of slow, you just have to give it time. Outdoor pictures are very clear, indoor pictures with yellowish lighting come out very bright, like there was natural sunlight in the room. The feel of this camera is kind of poor, as it could be easily dropped, and maybe broke. It doesn't feel like it's very durable But so far, this camera is a bang for it's buck and i would buy it again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great camera My husband is a realtor and takes lots of photos of his listings. Our old digital camera gave out on us and this Coolpix is the replacement. Large viewing area, easy to use, small and lightweight. Very flexible settings for any situation. Comes with a reference manual that is very comprehensive (i.e. long and detailed) but once you find your topic, easy to use. I was a little annoyed that the memory card was not included in the price but it was available to order at the same time.
