Hoya ProND1000 overview

  • 1Description

The Hoya 77mm ProND1000 Filter is a solid neutral density filter that enables a 10-stop increase in exposure. This 3.0 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.

This filter employs Hoya's metallic ACCU-ND coating on both sides of the substrate to create the neutral density effect and ensure maintained color neutrality between filter grades. It is constructed from high-quality clear optical glass for notable image clarity and is set within a durable one-piece aluminum filter ring.

3.0 ND filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.
Providing a 10-stop reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.
Metallic ACCU-ND coating ensures color accuracy and consistency between different ProND filter grades.
One-piece aluminum ring adds durability and rigidity for assured use and helps to prevent filter jamming.
Constructed from clear optical glass for maintained image clarity.

    Hoya ProND1000 reviews

    77mm ProND1000 Filter is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 33.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Worked Really Well Until The Filter Started To Degrade Was searching for something with minimal color cast that could be used on different types of lenses including telephoto. For my photography needs, a square filter system was impractical. The Hoya really fit the bill for almost a year, but after that the filter started to degrade and became blotchy. I couldn't say if it was UV light or ocean mist eating away at the coating, but after awhile the filter was unusable. Honestly, I can't complain about the results of the filter....just know you may have to replace it after some time of use in the field.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Went Blotchy in Time After several months in the field on a time lapse camera the filter failed. It went blotchy and soft degrading the image to unusable. Hoya won't answer my emails for a refund. A 500ND Hoya filter did the same. A 400ND is starting to go too. Must be a problem with UV light and their dyes. Tiffen have been good over time, but have a slight and varying green cast to them all. Trying B&W next.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best of the Bunch I've tried most of the heavy ND filters and all give a poor result of a green cast. (Some red) The Hoya Pro series, although not 100% perfect, are the best by far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Glass Works great! Helps add motion to photos that could otherwise be quite boring.High quality filter as you would expect from Hoya. A neutral color balance with the ACCU-ND technology in the Hoya PRO ND filters; no noticeable color-cast. Along with Hoya's exclusive clear optical glass you cant go wrong with the PRO ND filters and Hoya has been the worlds largest maker of optical glass for quite some time I've heard.I'm very happy with the Hoya PRO ND's. I have the PRO ND64 and the PRO ND1000 77mm and will order the PRO ND8 to finish my Hoya ND collection.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Awful Newtons rings That filter has Newtons rings! Not good at all, colors are ok but you can't have pictures taken with huge Newton rings on it! I believe it is because that filter is made with several layers (producing Newton ring as we've seen in slides glass frames. At first I thought that it was moire due to my D800 high resolution 36MP sensor but you can see the Newton rings just by holding the filter and looking at a light bulb! I also have a ND500 made by Light Craft Workshop and it does not have any Newton rings.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No color cast Very impressed that this 10 stop filter has no color cast. I've tried other ones in the past and returned them because the color cast was difficult to correct in post. Not an issue with this one. Be aware that in low light your camera may not be able to auto focus through this filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Much better than the variable ND filters I own This filter has no color shift and is significantly sharper than the Tiffen Variable ND I own. The Tiffen softens the image unlike the Hoya ProND 1000. There is no shift in the color it is truly a Neutral density filter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I own Lee Filters Big Stopper. However, I prefer this Hoya 10-stop ND filter because it allows me to use my Nikon lens hoods. The Big Stopper does not allow for lens hood, and sometimes a hood makes a difference.
