    RCA DETG160R reviews

DETG160R 16" Class LED HDTV is rated 3.4 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice Small TV I wanted a small TV for my kitchen counter. This was my choice. First off I discovered this 16 inch TV has a smaller cabinet size then all the 13 inch TVs I considered. I knew all the small TVs have some pretty tiny audio. This one is no exception. I fixed that by installing a pair of amplified computer speakers. The audio now sounds as good or better then my large screen TVs.I required my purchase to be LED/LCD and it is. In most situations I would want a 120 Hz TV but for a kitchen counter 60 Hz is plenty good as it would not be used for fast motion as say in a football game. The TV is 1080p and in addition having a very small screen the picture is sharp, crisp and clean. The TV is powered from a 12 volt wall module, so in an emergency, it could be powered from a 12 volt power source such as a car battery. As some have noted, all these small screen LCD TVs sitting on a kitchen counter suffer in performance when you can not look directly into the TV. This one does allow the set to be tilted on its stand which many do not allow you to do this. However, the greatest tilt angle possible is not great enough when this or any other small TV is placed on a kitchen counter top. The fix it to place a height extension to the front of it's base or install 1 inch feet to the front of the base. If you do this, you will be able to look straight into the screen and the picture will be good. As I said, you would have this problem no matter what small LCD TV you would put on a kitchen counter. Being a flat screen TV, you certainly can place this TV in the rear area of your counter top.As far as I know, all these small TVs are kind of no name TVs. Even though this set houses the RCA brand, it is still a no name TV. That means non of these small TVs allow you to program a generic remote control to control them. This one is no exception. I use Dish Network here and it as well as any other remote won't allow you to control this TV or any of the other lesser known TV brands. You just need to accept that fact about these small TVs.That said, if you understand the short comings of these small type TVs, you will not be sorry in purchasing this TV. I am a licensed broadcast engineer and hold an Extra Class Amateur Radio license.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Decent for the price This television is okay. Not great, not horrible. It's hard to find a television this size, and I needed it for my home office. The price is decent. The sound quality is pretty lousy. And the place they put the connection point for the cable is just plain awful. It took me the better part of an hour before I could attach the cable to the tv.really poor placement.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Some good some not so good I use it at home, in my office. Resolution excellent, audio a bit tinny. Strangely has no RCA audio output port. Would be much better if it had Bluetooth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact, lightweight, good image quality Purchased as an external monitor for a camera mounted to a jib. Despite having resolution less than 1920x1080, it still has great video quality for viewing live 1080p feeds from cameras. Response time is very quick. My only problem is the accessibility to the hdmi port which requires a 90 degree adapter.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for price! Sound is below average. Just the right size for desk next to computer. Excellent HD quality for price. Sound is poor but you get used to it fast. I tweaked the sound (many options in menu) so it's ok.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice TV For the price you can't beat it, but for only a few dollars more, you could have a full 1080 HD tv. I use it as a monitor for a computer so it works just fine for that.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from OK at best. TV seems to work well, however sound is atrocious as other reviews have noted. The stand is very poorly designed and hardy supports the TV. If it is powered up manually (without using the remote) the stand won't hold the TV steady in order to press the power button. Very cheaply made but not that bad for the price. I would have reservations recommending to a friend. You get what you pay for.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Could be better Bought this TV about two weeks ago for a kitchen counter. When attaching the stand we found that the screen pointed down at such an angle that the picture was all washed out. In order to get the screen up to a good viewing angle we installed the stand backwards and then added three layers of furniture pads at the front of the stand. We found that the sound quality was very tinny. Adjusting the bass to full and the treble to almost none made it acceptable but still annoying. We wish somebody made a quality, small screen HDTV.
