    APC J35 reviews

J35B A/V Power Conditioner with Battery Backup and AVR is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice I use this for all my Audio/Video gear and it fits right into my stack. Looks nice, very quite. No noise at all in fact. It estimates that I have about 20 min of run time when everything is turned on. Audi Receiver, 40 flat screen TV, DVD player, Tivo Romeo, and Wii. That will work just fine here where we get 3 to 5 second power outages all the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from APC Support is a plus When I received my UPS the display was malfunctioning so I called support and they quickly created an RMA and sent me a new one that arrived the next business day. The new one is working perfectly. I like the fact that it has the green function that is very configurable. The manual that came with the unit doesn't really explain all the settings, but APC has a manual online that goes into further detail. You can configure different outlet banks to use the green power-saving feature or they can be static on. In fact you can disable the green feature completely if you want. You also have the ability to configure the threshold that triggers the power-saving mode and you can even set the delay on and delay off time. I replaced a CyberPower Systems UPS with this unit because this has a cleaner output and the other system had an audible humming from the power transformer. The other unit was always warm so it was obvious that it was not very energy efficient. The APC unit stays cool as a cucumber. I think the power saving features of the J35 justify the extra cost over the J25.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best APC purchase i have made yet! Already had a J25B A/V Backup which was used in a home-theatre system. Took the J25B for an upgraded computer/workstation with lots of peripherals. Purchased the J35B for a new A/V system with lots more equipment. The reserve power for the J35B is much better than the J25B and does a much better job for the purpose.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product Use it for my desktop computer and laptop We are prone to power dips and small outages this has taken the worry out of them and I do not lose work. The directions are good no problem there set up is easy. It is heavy and large. But I am very comfortable with it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from J35B A/V Power Conditioner with Battery Backup and AVR Well made, heavier materials, not like some of the flimsy feel of some other products. This is my second AV backup and materials are a noticeable notch in higher quality than the other. Set up us easy and has enough plugs for my Blu-ray, DVR, CD player, AV receiver, wireless modem, cable box and TV. One coaxial I/O might not be enough for some. (One cable line coming in.) I don't use the power-saving equipment turn-off (Green Function) feature so I can't comment on that. I prefer to leave my expensive AV equipment in standby mode rather than cutting the power to the units on and off. But it is there if you wish to use it. The power here is horrible. In the Adirondacks and I am one of the last on the line. (the power line.) The power voltage is inconsistent and it seems every lighting strike or other surge finds its way to me. After eight years my ETA Systems surge and line conditioner finally gave it up. The automatic voltage regulation and line conditioning is a must for me. And yes it does make a difference in depth of field for both audio and video. According to their chart less than an hour of battery backup with my heavy voltage equipment when the power goes out here. (Which is way to common.) Using just the TV should be about two hours of backup time. Using just the modem (for laptop internet access) there should be up to four hours of backup time. A nice feature is that once you hook up all your equipment to the unit you can scroll through the informational display to find out how long (estimate) the battery backup will last.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 1st unit was defective, replacement is great! I gave it 5 stars even though the 1st unit was defective (keep reading). I’m not sure if it was caused from lack of protective packaging (see photos) or it was just defective from the factory. The inner retail box did not appear to be too damaged. I have ordered other large & heavy items (Printers, APC batteries) from B&H and have always been 100% satisfied. Anyway, I called APC the next morning and after 30 minutes of evaluation checks with the APC Technician he determined the unit was defective. APC shipped the replacement unit in a similar size outer box as the B&H shipment however the retail inner box was surrounded with plastic air pillows. The replacement unit works great. Highly recommended. I am running a 55” LCD TV, Home Theater Amp, Cable Box and Blu-Ray Player and when they are all running the unit indicated it had 22 minutes of run time on the batteries. Pretty impressive! The menus were super easy to go through and set up and the display can be turned off if you prefer. Keep in mind this unit is huge and heavy so be careful about placing it on unsupported glass shelves. My home entertainment stand has ” thick x 4 ft long glass shelves and even when putting the unit all the way to the side (where the glass is supported) the glass was bowing about ” in the center because of its 30 pound weight. Now for the part that is a little concerning; both the defective unit and the new unit when turned “On” (and nothing plugged into it) drew 45 watts. The APC Tech said that is normal. Well, I guess that’s the price you have to pay for good surge protection and “on-battery” run time.
