The 52mm Variable Neutral Density Filter from Bower gives you the capability of shooting with high speed film or high ISO settings on your digital camera, even in direct sunlight. ND filters reduce the amount of light that reaches your film or your sensor, and this variable ND filter allows you to choose just how much light you want to block from 2 to 8 stops. To adjust the amount of light, simply turn the adjustable dial for a seamless adjustment.

With the variable ND filter on your lens, you can control both the exposure time and depth of field in your photos. Without an ND filter, most cameras do not have a shutter speed fast enough to allow you to shoot wide open in bright conditions. By adding an ND filter, you can blur your background and isolate your subject, even under direct sunlight. You can also shoot very long exposures which is useful for landscape and architecture photography. Exposing your shot for a long period can make people, clouds, cars, and other moving objects seemingly disappear from your images.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid ND Filter I bought the Bower variable ND filter for three reasons. First, I am an enthusiast on a budget. The filter seemed to be a good balance of quality and price. I own other Bower filters and have had good luck with them. Second, I want to capture those dreamy, silky images of moving water only possible with longer shutter speeds. Third, I travel abroad and want the flexibility of taking good street portraits at mid-day in bright sun. The effect can be quite stunning. The Bower variable ND filter has a solid feel. Rotating the filter to change settings is smooth and sure. It holds its setting when you are ready to release the shutter.I give it four stars instead of five though, because when set at eight stops of light, there was some unexpected vignetting in the upper right hand corner of the image, yet now where else as I would have expected had it been the lens itself vignetting. I'm still learning to use ND filters, so it may be that I made a fundamental mistake a more experienced photographer wouldn't make.Altogether, I'm satisfied with the quality and build of this product.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Price and Works Great The varial ND is very easy to use and stays at the desired setting. The only downside is that the 52mm lens cover is too small for the filter once the filter is set on the lens, so you'll have to grap yourself a larger lens cover in order to keep the filter clean and free of damage.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good filter, great price Love that it's adjustable. The only thing that would make it better is if my lens cap would attach to it, that way I could just leave the ND filter on the lens. Other than that, great filter for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best vari ND on for video Those variable ND filters are PERFECT. I love the fact that is does not have infinity rolling, so you actually know when you're at the minimum or maximum filter value. Just like a regular iris. Way better than the others brands, where there's no physical limit so you can turn it all the way to the max, and suddenly switch to the minimum value...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ND Filter Fills Long-Exposure Needs I've always carried a variety of ND filters for long-exposure shots in bright light. I had never tried a variable density ND filter until I saw a B&H ad. The product arrived promptly and was exactly what I wanted. B&H is one of the few online stores that I use with no worries about product quality, good service and quick delivery.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Really bad vignetting issues I went out to the beach today in bright sunlight and opened up my aperture to 1.4 so I could get some shallow depth of field photos of my daughters. That worked fine, but all my photos have really bad vignetting in one corner. I plan on returning it and trying a different brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Used with Hero 3 GoPro Used with the Snake River Blur Fix filter adapter and my Hero 3 (NOT 3+) to take through the propellor movies in my airplane, a Cessna 182. Granted the GoPro does not have high end optics, but this variable ND filter from Bower induced no distortion in the images taken by the Hero 3. The variable filter can be adjusted to eliminate the prop blur effect under any daylight conditions. A fixed density filter cannot.
