Bower FN62 overview

  • 1Description

The 62mm Variable Neutral Density Filter from Bower gives you the capability of shooting with high speed film or high ISO settings on your digital camera, even in direct sunlight. ND filters reduce the amount of light that reaches your film or your sensor, and this variable ND filter allows you to choose just how much light you want to block from 2 to 8 stops. To adjust the amount of light, simply turn the adjustable dial for a seamless adjustment.

With the variable ND filter on your lens, you can control both the exposure time and depth of field in your photos. Without an ND filter, most cameras do not have a shutter speed fast enough to allow you to shoot wide open in bright conditions. By adding an ND filter, you can blur your background and isolate your subject, even under direct sunlight. You can also shoot very long exposures which is useful for landscape and architecture photography. Exposing your shot for a long period can make people, clouds, cars, and other moving objects seemingly disappear from your images.

    Bower FN62 reviews

62mm Variable Neutral Density Filter is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not usable with hood attached on FZ1000 I bought this filter to be used on the FZ1000, however, with the hood attached, filter cannot be used due to size of the filter. Filter is usable without the hood. The filter is necessary when shooting 4k video on FZ1000 at 30 fps at shutter speed set to 1/60 (lens only go up to f/8)on full sun. This filter is well made mechanically but is thicker than most.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome I use these variable ND filters on lenses used on my Sony FS100 which doesn't have built in ND filters so I can adjust the exposure without getting into crazy high shutter speeds or stopping way down in bright light. I have no idea why people would pay 4-6 times the price of these Bowers for other brands. The Bower filter is absolutely fine with perfect optical quality, at least as far as I can see in HD.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The right ND filter at the right price Not much to say except that this variable ND Filter works just as well as the ones costing 4x more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Broaden Depth of Field Exploration I have been interested in working with depth of field in bright light. This ND Filter is a great addition the f1.8 & f2.8 lenses. The rotating action is smooth.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from worked as expected I was able to use the ND the very next day upon arrival on a dual moving brass wind sail in our friends back yard and the shots came out better than expected. great filter to play with can't wait until the races come next month to see how cars a speed come out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for Video I can’t talk from a photography point of view but for videography this variable ND is fantastic. Colour shift is minimal and for the price they just can’t be beaten.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not what I expected I was disappointed with this filter. It performs pretty well up until about the 6th stop then a severe cross hatching problem occurs. It starts to have uneven exposure problems. I didn't return it because it is still usable up to about 6 stops. I've read some reviews of other variable filters and this seems to be a common problem. My advise would be to stick with a fixed filter.
