Kindle B006ZZEUXM Overview

  • 1Description

Take a massive reading library on-the-go with the Kindle 6" eReader. This Kindle has a 6" anti-glare screen that allows you to read content in direct sunlight and a 167 ppi resolution for displaying clear and crisp text. The Kindle's internal storage can hold up to 2GB of content, which provides space for approximately 1400 books. If you have a large reading library, you can store that material for free in the Amazon cloud and download it as needed. You can browse the Kindle library and download books without a computer utilizing the Kindles's 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity.

The Kindle comes with a USB 2.0 cable for charging and can last up to 4 weeks on a single charge. This eReader supports children's books with Kindle Text Pop-up and allows you to set parental controls for denying access to mature material. The device's 5-way controller is designed for simple operation and navigation. With a weight of 5.98 oz and width of 4.5", the Kindle is compact and light-enough to fit in your pocket.

Reads Like Real Paper, No Glare Even in Bright Sunlight
Kindle uses an electronic ink screen that looks and reads like real paper. The matte screen reflects light like ordinary paper and uses no backlighting, so you can read as easily in bright sunlight as in your living room. The Kindle's screen has no glare.
Lighter Than a Paperback
At less than 6 ounces, Kindle is designed to make it easy and comfortable to hold in one hand for extended periods of time.
One-Month Battery Life
Kindle does not require power to maintain a page of text, allowing you to read for up to a month on a single charge, with wireless off and a half hour of reading per day, versus hours on a tablet or smart phone.
Sharp, Clear Text
Kindle uses actual ink particles and proprietary, hand-built fonts to create crisp, print-like text similar to what you see in a physical book. The screen's 100% aperture ratio means no gaps between pixels. The blacks and whites on the screen are uniform, improving image quality.
Easy on the Eyes
Every time your eyes switch from a bright screen to a dimmer, ambient room, your eyes have to adjust, which may result in fatigue. With Kindle the page is the same brightness as everything else in the room so there's no adjustment needed.
Read in Any Position
When you read for long periods of time, you often switch positions to get more comfortable. Kindle has a uniform contrast ratio that does not change with your viewing angle, so you can read in any position.

The Kindle store offers a large selection of competitively priced book titles.

Adjustable Text Sizes, Font Choices
Kindle has eight adjustable text sizes to suit your reading preference. You can increase the text size of your favorite book or periodical with the push of a button. If your eyes tire, simply increase the font size and continue reading comfortably. Kindle also has three font styles to choose from - all optimized and hand-tuned to provide the best reading experience.
Custom Fonts
Kindle uses hand-built, custom fonts and font-hinting to make words and letters more crisp, clear, and natural-looking. Font hints are instructions, written as code, that control points on a font character's line, improving legibility at small font sizes where few pixels are available. Hinting is a mix of aesthetic judgments and complicated technical strategies.
Global Language Support
Kindle supports the display of non-Latin characters, so you can read books and documents in your favorite language. Kindle displays Cyrillic (such as Russian), Japanese, Chinese (Traditional and Simplified), and Korean characters, in addition to Latin and Greek scripts. Kindle also provides access to several international dictionaries.
Real Page Numbers
You can match the pages of a Kindle book to the text in a print book to identify the corresponding "real" page number. Easily reference and cite passages or read alongside others.
5-Way Controller
Kindle's 5-way controller is designed for ease-of-use, enabling precise on-screen navigation for selecting text to highlight or looking up words.
Supports Children's Books and Comics
Kindle supports children's books with Kindle Text Pop-Up, and comic books with Kindle Panel View, which allows you to read a comic book panel by panel.
Whispersync
Whispersync technology synchronizes your last page read, bookmarks and annotations across your devices so you can always pick up where you left off.
Free Library Backup
Automatically back up your library in the cloud, so don't have to worry about losing your books. Re-download wirelessly anytime for free.
Organize Your Library
Organize your Kindle library into customized collections, or categories, to easily access any book you are looking for. You can add an item to multiple collections to make organizing and finding titles even easier.
Search Wikipedia and the Web
Kindle makes it easy for you to search. Enter a word or phrase and Kindle will search every instance across your Kindle library, in the Kindle Store, on Wikipedia, or the Web using Google search. Kindle features an experimental WebKit-based browser to provide a better experience.
Built-in Dictionary with Instant Lookup
Come across a word you don't know? Kindle includes The New Oxford American Dictionary with over 250,000 entries and definitions for free. Kindle lets you instantly lookup the definition without ever leaving the book - simply select the word with the cursor and the definition will automatically display at the bottom of the screen.
Fast Page Turns
Kindle's processor is engineered for fast, seamless page turns.
Carry and Read Your Personal Documents
Kindle makes it easy to take your personal documents with you, eliminating the need to print. You and your approved contacts can e-mail documents - including Word, PDF and more - directly to your Kindle and read them in Kindle format. You can also send documents to your Kindle using Send to Kindle.
Bookmarks and Annotations
Add annotations to text, just like you might write in the margins of a book, with a virtual keyboard that appears just when you need it. And because Kindle books are digital, you can edit, delete, and export your notes. You can highlight and clip key passages and bookmark pages for future use. You don't need to bookmark your last place in the book, because Kindle remembers for you and always opens to the last page you read.
Share Meaningful Passages
Share your passion for books and reading with friends, family, and other readers around the world by posting meaningful passages to social networks like Facebook and Twitter directly from Kindle, without leaving the page. Want to post or tweet about a great new novel or newspaper article? When you highlight or create a note in your book or periodical, you can easily share it with your social network. Help your network of family and friends discover new authors and books.
Public Notes
Share your notes and see what others are saying about Kindle books. Any Kindle user - including authors, book reviewers, professors and passionate readers everywhere - can opt-in to share their thoughts on book passages and ideas with friends, family members, colleagues, and the greater Kindle community.

See what Kindle readers think are the most interesting passages in your books. If several other readers have highlighted a particular passage, then that passage will be highlighted in your book along with the total number of people who have highlighted it.

    Kindle B006ZZEUXM Reviews

6" eReader (With Special Offers Advertisements) is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 19.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love this product I bought the kindle to be able to read outside. While I didn't mind reading through the kindle app on my iPad, I was frustrated by the glare and the limit of being about to read wherever I was at. The kindle has been amazing so far, I keep the wifi off unless I am syncing it and the battery life is fantastic. Obviously there is no back lighting, so at night you have to have light source, but I'm fine that. I also enjoy that it reads more like a book, the way the typeface appears is different than on the app. I am very glad I god the kindle and would reccommend it in a heartbeat. Now that summer is really settling in, I am very excite to continue using it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from mom's electronic sudoku.. my mom's old electronic sudoku puked, and she needed a new one...well this fit the bill pefectly, and i loaded up a few other goodies besides the sudoku and she is as happy as a clam.. she doesn't complain about the keyboad function of scrolling and selecting each individual character, which i feel is truely the downfall of the unit; but i know the kindle keyboard vertion would have been no better because i have an alphbetical keyboad on my scientific calculator that serriously would require a brain transplant to opperate any more effectively.. hopeing the 4th gen non-touch's USB port will support a mini thumb style qwerty, but haven't been able to find information confirming one way or annother yet..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly What I Was Looking For I own a Kindle HD and find it very hard to read due to glare on the screen so I was looking for a black & white, e-ink type device for reading only. This basic Kindle does the trick. The page looks exactly like a book. Since I do almost all of my reading with a light source this works great for me (the basic Kindle has no back-lighting). It is so light it is very comfortable to hold for hours at a time. There are no other gadgets, no camera or memory card slots or USB ports or earphone jacks. It is an easy to use ebook reader and I love it!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My perfect little bit I need a simple reader to read books, and I find the Kindle 6 ereader perfect for my needs. It is small, light, compact (I can put it in my pocket), however easy to read with no glasses which I normally need when I read paper books. My only suggestions for improvement would be a back light, and the page turner button looks a bit fragile. I know the Fire model has back light, however I was not interested on a tablet to stream movies or connect to the Internet, I just wanted a book reader. I would have gladly paid $10 more for a back light. The page turner button I know is not durable because it broke pretty fast on my previous kindle and I can feel it is not very sturdy. All in all, I would highly recommend Kindle e-reader, it is a great value for the price

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love my new Kindle. I love this little device. It makes it easier to carry and read a huge book. It is light weight and can be read anywhere there is light. It reads and looks just like a book. You can even read it outside in bright light. I bought a book cover with a light attached for $9.00. It is perfect for reading in not so well lit places. I really love the fact you can move the cursor to a word and the definition pops up. It makes it so easy to expand your volcabulary and your understanding of what is really being said. I read someone's comments about not being able to read it while laying down. I have no trouble with that. There are page back and forward buttons on each side and if you do accidently hit one that changes the page, there is a back button at the bottom of the reader that will take you back to the last page you were on. I also love the fact you can highlight passages and make notes. All of your highlights, notes, bookmarks (you can make book marks too) can be seen from one menu. Simply put the cursor on the page number and the Kindle takes you right to the highlighted information. You can not view video on this Kindle but you can browse the internet with it if you have a wireless connection to your home internet and are in range. You can also save pictures and your own documents to this device. Everything will be in black and white. I also had some ebooks in pdf form and was able to download and view them on my new Kindle. I am very happy with my new high tech addition. You can even purchase books from Amazon right from the comfort of your Kindle. It takes a minute to get it set up. Please be patient. It will be worth it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great basic e-reader This is a replacement for the same product that died after an impressive tenure. I love this basic Kindle -- the e-ink is so much easier on my eyes than a computer screen, and the reader is much more convenient to carry around than a book (though I still love paper books too!), let alone a stack of them. Buying books from @ is easy, as is e-mailing .pdf documents to my kindle e-mail. I was very happy to find this product at B&H since @ wasn't selling this basic model anymore!
