TP-Link TL-SG108 Overview

  • 1Description

Connect a variety of Ethernet enabled devices to your existing wired network with the TL-SG108 8-Port 10/100/1000 Mb/s Desktop Switch from TP-Link. Equipped with 8 Gigabit Ethernet ports, this unmanaged switch is compatible with IEEE 802.3ab, 802.3x, 802.3u, and 802.3i networking standards. Support for 802.1p helps to prioritize latency-sensitive traffic such as voice, video, and gaming, while IGMP snooping helps optimize multicast traffic.

The TL-SG108 comes with an array of power-savings features that are designed to cut energy consumption based the number of ports in use and cable length, while the unit's fanless design helps to ensure quiet operation. The steel-housed switch can be placed on a desktop or mounted on a wall.

Simple Setup
The TL-SG108 boasts a plug-and-play design, with no configuration required, while auto MDI/MDIX eliminates the need for crossover cables. Auto-negotiation on each port senses the link speed of a network device and adjusts for compatibility and optimal performance.
Power-Saving Features
The TL-SG108 is designed to conserve power by automatically detecting the link status of each port and reducing the power consumption of ports that are idle, resulting in an up to 82% reduction of power use. The switch also adjusts its power budget depending on the length of the cables you're using.
Traffic Optimization
802.1p and DSCP QoS helps smooth the flow of latency-sensitive traffic such as voice and video, while IGMP snooping optimizes the multicast data stream.

    TP-Link TL-SG108 Reviews

    TL-SG108 8-Port 10/100/1000 Mb/s Desktop Switch is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 27.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Product shipped works great but wasnt the one shown on web The product does exactly what its supposed to do and Im happy with my new switch.  My only quibble was the product shown in the ad shows a device that allows you to look at the leds on either side of port where you connect your cable and you can tell immediately the speed of the connection. i.e. 10 mbs, 100 mbs or gigabit.  The product shipped to me must be the newer version of the switch and the indicator has been reduced to a small led that only shows that the cable is connected but it doesnt indicate the speed of the connection.  Thats slightly irritating, but in actuality, Ill probably never look at it again as the switch is designed to be set it and forget it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from No Issues So Far I bought this 8 port switch to supplement and upgrade my older 10/100 8 port which filled up. What can I say, it's a switch. Plug stuff in and it works. No issues running between my new router and Cat6 cabling all through my house to every electronic device. It just works. It's been running for a few weeks with no issues.
