The 12” Peavey BWX Series 1208-8sps Black Widow Loudspeaker is equipped with a tough, water-resistant cone and a surround with an innovative asymmetrical-M style design for improving mid-range clarity. This loudspeaker features good power handling capability along with high sound quality and low distortion. The dust cap is also made of the same water-resistant material.

The voice coil assemblies on the drivers use thermoset-insulated aluminum or copper ribbon wire bonded onto a durable, heat-resistant, polyimide composite former. The coil wires are solderless, diffusion-welded to high conductivity OFHC copper foil leads, which are embedded inside the former assembly and soldered to the tinsel leads with high-temperature silver solder. The solder joint is then coated with a thermally conductive silicone adhesive for encapsulation and heat dissipation.

The voice coil assemblies are bonded to the Kevlar cone and the tough nylon composite spider using thermoset epoxy. The spider and surround are bonded to the frame with a high strength, toughened adhesive. The speaker magnet’s structure has been optimized for better power handling.

The drivers have cast-aluminum frames, replaceable basket assemblies, Rubatex gaskets, and spring-loaded terminals. The loudspeaker’s baskets are designed so that they can be replaced in a few minutes without having to re-cone the speakers. The drivers are suitable for a wide range of sound reinforcement, playback, subwoofer, and monitor applications.

The 1208-8sps Loudspeaker works well in sealed or vented enclosure designs, and its smooth, extended frequency response makes it a great mid-range performer. Since the 1208sps Loudspeaker’s low-frequency output is limited, it should be used along with a subwoofer when response below 60 Hz is needed. The best application for this loudspeaker is in compact enclosures and during high-quality mid-bass/mid-range reproduction at high sound pressure levels.

Note: The 12" loudspeaker's drivers are usable up to 3.5 kHz but work best below 2.5 kHz.
