edelkrone SliderPlus Camera Slider Overview

The SliderPLUS Large from edelkrone is a slider that uses a unique tracking mechanism that allows the rails of the slider to move with the camera when mounted on a tripod. This gives the slider 31.5" of sliding range in a unit that is only 21.1" long. Its compact sizes makes it ideal for travel, as it takes of up less room in your camera bag than other sliders with a similar sliding range. The slider supports loads up to 8.8 pounds.

The tracking system works by having two thin bands that are connected to each side of the mounting plate and base plate. When placed on a flat surface, the base plate travels in the opposite direction of the mounting plate. This will yield results of traditional slider. To take advantage of the design, the SliderPLUS needs to be mounted to a tripod. When mounted on a tripod, the movement of the base plate is restricted, causing the rails to move through the base plate in the same direction as the mounting plate.

With traditional sliders, you're often limited to the amount of dolly in/out you can do, because the slider itself usually will end up in the shot eventually. With the SliderPLUS, the rails are also retracting backwards with the camera, allowing for longer dolly in/out shots. A lock mechanism can be engaged to keep the slider from moving if the tripod becomes unlevel.

The slider provides a 3/8"-16 threaded hole at the bottom of the base plate for attaching to tripods, and comes with interchangeable 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 screws for mounting a camera or flat base tripod head to the mounting plate.

  • CNC machined aluminum construction
  • Steel ball bearings
  • 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threaded screws

question

The screw to mount the fluid head dose not stay still. I cant mount my head, it worked a couple of times no it has stop working, what should I do?
Asked by: Pete S.
It probably stripped the threading in your head. This happened to two heads that I've tried. Major defect!

question

Would a large or medium size be a better bet for this slider? It's very hard for me to decide.
Asked by: Lam
go for the large. you get a better range and it is not much larger in size.

question

Has anyone who used this dealt with the slider bending slightly when on tripod and sliding out to either end? I know if the camera setup is too heavy that obviously would happen, but the most I plan to use on this is a Sony a7s with an adapter and 24-105 f4.0L or something lighter. Either scenario should be well within its load capacity I would imagine.

I find by taking the fluid head off and using a Manfrotto short half ball head instead that there is more support--and the legs have to be extended out to at least the width of the slider. You can't use a light weight tripodfor this slider. I'm using an Induro carbon tripod... and Edelkrone target and action module all together-with Canon 7D.

question

Canon xc10 is best low budget cinema camera or any other camera which is best ?
Asked by: Ammad R.
The Canon XC10 is a good camera for the money, but there is no best camera. It makes great images, but lacks XLR inputs and has a fixed lens. The Panasonic GH4 (which I own) has interchangeable lenses but doesn't have XLR inputs either. It makes great images. The old adage is, the best camera is the one you have in your hand on the day of the shoot. It's not the tool, it's the craftsperson.
