It provides fast, easy automatic backup for your digital files on your computer, mobile devices, and the cloud. The Seagate Dashboard features a Protect function allowing you to schedule your automatic local backups in as little as one click.

With the Save feature, user-generated content can be backed up from your favorite social networks. Install the free Seagate Mobile Backup app on an iOS or Android mobile device to back up all of the files from the device to the drive or the cloud.

The Share feature allows multiple files to be uploaded to social networks at once from your computer. Simply select files to upload, then choose where to post them, and even add comments. Install the pre-loaded NTFS driver for Mac and use the drive interchangeably between Windows and Mac computers without reformatting it. The Backup Plus Slim's thin metal design allows you to slide the drive into your pocket, purse, or backpack and carry it with you anywhere.

    Seagate Backup Plus reviews

2TB Backup Plus Slim Portable External USB 3.0 Hard Drive (Black) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 406.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slim, Capacious, Quick. Perfect! As a user of MacBook Airs and MacBook Pros with SSD internal drives, I've been using external hard drives to archive large files and Time Machine back ups, but the larger capacities were FAT (12.5 vs. 9.5mm). This is the first decent size external bus-powered hard drive that is a 9.5mm thick drive, allowing for a very slim 1/2 high external case. And luckily, due to the higher areal density, it is actually FASTER than my old fat 1.5 TB hard drive. I benchmarked the old drive at 85.3 MB/s write and 89.8 MB/s, the 2TB Seagate Backup Plus drive at 105.6 and 108.5 MB/s, respectively: 23.8% faster write and 20.8% faster read speeds. I can't ask for any more for a laptop external backup drive.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from WARNING DO NOT BUY Warning to all buyers, Do your research on this drive. I bought one and it failed for no reason of damage that I caused. It failed mechanically inside and the data was lost after I only had it for 6 months. I sent it to 2 of the best recovery places in the US and they charge $3000 for recovery and I was prepared to pay that because I needed the data that bad. However neither of them could save the data. Both companies couldn't explain the failure, as they found no external damage to explain the internal damage. Seagate will not refund you if you have to have the drive repaired by someone other than themselves. Never, trust Seagate and don't buy this product.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did not work with either Mac Book Pro or PC Windows 7 Pro I connected this disc to a Mac Book Pro Yosemite to use for Time Machine backups. It continually failed to complete the backup and was ejected by the OS after 5-15 minutes. I tried it as a simple backup device by dragging files to it and had the same problem. It simply stopped. I told the OS to reformat it and that failed. I thought it was a hardware problem with the USB driver. Then I took it to my desktop PC running Windows 7 Professional. In the beginning the OS would not recognize the drive but using the Seagate utilities I got beyond that. Then I tried to copy a series of files to it, and the same problem occurred--the device would not become recognizable, the power light would go out on the device, and the copying process would stop. I concluded that the drive is the problem because two different USB hardware devices on different platforms had the same problem with it. B&H deserves kudos for taking the device back. But Seagate needs to re-engineer the device. I have had stupendous success with many 5.25 Seagate drives, so this is clearly an anomaly that Seagate needs to correct.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to use. Lots of memory for price I love the bright colors so I know which one I need, since I have several backup externals. I use this for storage for all of our family pictures, kids art projects and sensitive personal documents. The case is smaller and slimmer than expected which is great. The case has a solid build. My only complaint is the USB 3.0 attachment to the unit. The 3.0 seems flimsy, and doesn't seem to fit solidly into the unit. I am concerned about this bending eventually, even with careful use. HOWEVER, I feel this way about ALL USB 3.0 attachments. I am not a fan of the sturdiness of the design, but it does transfer info noticeably faster.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from 18 Months and Failure Used this for local backups and taking large amounts of data on the road, such as pictures and images. I was pleased with the product until today, when one of the two I purchased failed. Contacted Seagate, which would have made the return easy but I have decided to eat the cost of the drive. I have sensitive customer information on the drive. Notwithstanding Seagate's assurances that the drives are destroyed upon return, I have decided to have the device destroyed locally.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Always have been the best... Seagate has always been the best Hard drives, I started with a Windows 98 system from Compaq which had a Seagate 9 Gigabyte Hard drive. Small back then when now everything's Either 500 Gigabytes, or Terabytes. However I have made sure that when I need an upgrade to My computers, that they always have a Seagate Hard drive installed. This is why,, that old Windows 98 system if I were to plug it in and turn it on it still works as good as it did when I bought it in 1998. In short I will always recommend to anyone to Always use Seagate Hard drives in anything you get that needs a hard drive. Thank you for your service and may you all have a wonderful day!!! Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not as straightforward as Clickfree I just purchased the Seagate 2TB Backup Plus Slim Portable External USB 3.0 Hard Drive to replace a Clickfree backup. My Clickfree worked fine but I realized it didn't work with windows 10 and they have gone out of business.. I have W7 on my PC but if it crashes and I need to restore to a new PC(W10) I would need to restore to a functional W7 PC first. The Seagate works fine but the Clickfree was more straightforward. The files were easier to view (both old and incremental) and it would remind you to back up even if not connected. But the Seagate may be the best of the low price portable backup units.
