The B+W 62mm Close-Up +5 SC NL 5 Lens offers the ability to achieve macro-like results with camera lenses that have 62mm front filter threads. A close-up lens is a magnifier that optically decreases the focal length of a camera lens placed behind it. This effect lessens the minimum focus distance between the camera lens and a subject. Magnification can then be obtained by decreasing the distance between the subject and the combined camera lens and close-up lens.

The magnifying power of a close-up lens is indicated by its diopter strength. A close-up lens with a higher diopter number provides more relative magnification, and can be combined with other close-up lenses to increase or fine-tune the macro effect. This close-up lens has a diopter strength of +5. Diopter strengths of +1, +2, +3, or +4 are also available where this close-up lens type's effect becomes progressively stronger with each diopter strength number increase.

To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each glass surface of this lens includes one layer of anti-reflection coating. B+W close-up lenses are constructed from Schott glass for increased optical clarity. This close-up lens features an F-Pro brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

The B+W Close-Up +5 SC NL 5 Lens possesses a front surface with a high degree of curvature and no front filter threads. To combine this B+W 62 Close-Up +5 SC NL 5 Lens with other close-up lenses or filters, it must screwed onto the very top of any combination of stacked close-up lenses or filters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Quality I love how this inexpensive, exceptional quality filter has created such a new dimension to my nature photos. This is a really well made optic. I was really impressed by the construction and the weight of the glass. I recently spent a day at a tidal pool along the northern California coast and came back with stunning macros/close ups of sea urchins, hermit crabs, starfish, mussels, etc. I didn't need to spend $1000 on a new macro lens to capture tack sharp images.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Macro with muscle! This lens works well with the Tameron 28-300 macro zoom. It enables one to get closer to the subject when working in close quarters.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really good filter for DSLRs I have this filter as a 77mm to use with my 5DII, I decided to experiment by buying a smaller version to add better macro capabilities to my newly acquired Canon SX40 HS, macro function in that camera is so good that did not improve image quality in the SX40. I gave the filter away to a friend that is currently using it with a 7D and an ordinary 18-55mm kit lense making amazing images with it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Macro Close Up Filter Being I had a fixed lens (Panasonic Lumix FZ1000) camera I was experiencing macro difficulty. I decided to purchase this filter. Beautiful ground glass - however - not giving me what I want 100%. Still testing it. See attached photo where I did get the camera to fire. Everyday I learn something new with this camera even though I have it more than 18 months and use all the time

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not great You can definitely get closer with this lens, but it is so soft that it's basically worthless with apertures under f11 or so. In many cases you may be better off just cropping your photos. With lots of light and a tripod the results improve.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what I want Used on my Fuji 55-200mm mirrorless lens, it becomes a great macro lens - actually gets closer than the Fuji 60mm macro.
