Good filter for night vision and watching nocturnal animals

I was primarily interested in this filter to watch owls and other nocturnal animals. Like it! Note that the distance at which you can see an object will be reduced by a factor of 10, compared to white light. This is about 40 m at high power - still enough to spot an animal without blinding it.

My application was to convert an Xtreme Bright Pro Series X55 headlamp to night use (amateur astronomy). It was a tight fit but there was enough give in the rubber cylinder to get it deployed over the existing clear lens. Waiting for warmer weather before I use it for intended application.

The NITECORE Red Filter for 34mm Flashlight is not designed for scuba diving. If you do need a red filter on a dive light than has a 34mm bezel it will work. For recommendations on dive lights that include a filter or have a red beam please email [email protected]
