Retrospective Laptop Case 13L (Blue Slate) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it I didn't buy this bag to carry a laptop or a tablet, I just bought it to use as a regular messenger bag.It looks great, it is the perfect size, the quality is great, the shoulder pad is pretty darned amazing, one of the best I've used. I like that it has several different pockets. It has one in the very front that is closed by two velcro tabs (I didn't realise it was a pocket until I started searching for my rain cover which I thought had been missing), the main pocket with the padded divider, a zippered pocket in the main pocket, and a zippered pocket at the back of the bag. The included raincover is very useful to have in a pinch. You wouldn't want your documents or laptop getting wet if caught out in the rain. I do wish the padded divider was removable. It makes the bag stiffer than it would otherwise be, and a tad heavier (not much). The removable carrying handle is very nice to have as a grab handle, and is quite unobtrusive as it usually falls back on itself towards the back side of the bag, though that does mean it gets in the way when you try put things in the rear zippered pocket. I really like that it has 2 points to adjust the length of the strap as opposed to the standard single point. I find with the single point versions, the buckle (if that is what it is called, that metal or plastic bit you slide to adjust the length) often ends up blocking my shoulder pad from sliding as far back as I'd like. With this 2-point system, problem solved. All messenger bags should have this.Having a different material for the back of the bag is just good thinking. The main material is rather coarse textured, and would either rub colour off onto your clothes and cause those little fluff-balls on your shirt, or the colour from your clothes would rub off onto it (especially when wet). The material they chose for the back is black, smooth, and I believe it is nylon, which means it won't do any of the above. It has some rubber non-slip strips on the underside of the shoulder pad which I doubt will survive very long, but are quite nice to have for the time being. They don't affect comfort, so it won't matter much if they do fall off at some point. Mine came with frayed seams on the back just above the zipper for the rearmost pocket, which is disappointing for a bag in this price range and quality. B&H were great about fixing this problem for me, but the bag deserves 1 star knocked off for this and for the fixed padded divider.
