Access and Repurpose Technical Design Assets
Corel CONNECT X6
Helping to expedite your workflow, CONNECT X6 is an integrated content search tool for quickly locating and organizing graphical assets, templates, fonts, and images located within a local network or from online portals and websites.
Multiple trays enables a concurrent tray-based workflow for greater flexibility to organize assets for multiple projects.
A search capability enables instant image extraction from websites by simply typing a web address in the Search box.
Corel PowerTRACE X6
Scanned bitmaps, such as circuit design blueprints, schematics, and hand-drawn illustrations can be quickly converted to editable vector graphics with smoother curves and more accurate results.
3D Import with XVL Studio 3D
The integrated 3D visualization module, XVL Studio 3D Corel Edition, helps to create illustrations and renderings from defined and custom 3D model views from DWG, 3DS, VRML, and XVL file types. Additionally, the 3D-sourced illustration can be placed and scaled upon import, eliminating the need to reposition or resize in a separate step.
The optional XVL Studio 3D CAD add-on is also available, to permit opening and working with 3D CAD file formats, such as CATIA V5, PTC Ceo (Pro/ENGINEER), SolidWorks, Inventor, NX, IGES, STEP, JT, and others.
Insert 3D Models with XVL Player
The Insert 3D functionality in XVL Player permits embedding of 3D models as 3D elements within projects. View, scale, and rendering modes can then be specified to add context to technical illustrations. When importing vector illustrations from 3D model views, the drawing scale is maintained and imported views are placed at scale. Technical illustrations that include a high-resolution image of the selected 3D view can also be published. Additionally, XVL files can also be opened within XVL Studio 3D for further editing.
Create Technical Illustrations
Projected Drawing Modes
A projected plane can be used for accurately drawing isometric or other parallel projected illustrations for assembly and maintenance instructions. For working with existing planar objects, you can also project the objects to a desired plane, rather than calculating a rotation and skew angle manually.
Sticky Callouts and Callout Text Edits
Sticky callouts link to the source shape as it is moved or modified and callout text can be based on object properties and linked to the source shape metadata to help expedite an overall workflow. The callouts linked to metadata are dynamic to help simplify updating callouts for iterative modifications of an illustration.
Drawing Scale Control
The drawing scale can be modified directly from the toolbar at any time to enhance overall precision when creating technical illustrations. The active drawing scale can be quickly identified and switching to any drawing scale preset or custom drawing scale can also be easily accomplished directly from the native user interface design.
Integrated alignment guides help to position objects more quickly through suggested alignments based on existing elements on your page. These temporary guidelines appear when creating, resizing, or moving objects in relation to the center or edges of other nearby objects. Plus, the guides interactively connect the centers and the edges of objects.
Advanced Dimension Tools
Precise measurement values can be easily displayed and created using advanced dimension tools, which include radial and diameter dimensioning capabilities. Projected drawings can quickly and efficiently documented with dynamic dimension lines and text, eliminating the need to draw and project dimension objects in multiple steps.
An enhanced Transformations docker works to quickly apply transformations, including the ability to move, copy, rotate, resize, scale, mirror, and project graphical objects through the use of precise coordinates. Support for onscreen selection, measurement, and the application of the changes on the fly is also supported.
Maintain Style and Consistency
Styles Engine and Docker
An Object Styles docker simplifies the creation, application, and management of styles for graphical shapes, including symbols, callouts, and dimensioning. Style Sets are also available for quickly applying consistent formatting across multiple objects and for producing iterative versions of an illustration.
Color Styles and Harmonies
A Color Style can be created based on specific colors used within a document to help increase efficiency when implementing color changes throughout an entire project. Once created, collective color modification can also be performed to maintain consistency throughout an entire project. Furthermore, multiple Color Styles can be grouped together into a Harmony for quickly producing recurring designs with varying color schemes.
Halos can be added to lines to help visually discern different line types, such as multiple lines within wiring diagrams, flowcharts, or the axes of an exploded view with thrust lines. Integrated within the Object Styles docker, halos can be saved as part of a preset line style for easier recurring use of them throughout complex projects.
Master Layers and Page Numbering
Master Layers enables the creation of page-specific designs for multi-page documents, including headers, footers, and page numbers into technical communication documents. The enhanced page numbering abilities allows you to instantly add page numbers to all pages of a document, beginning on a specific page or with a specific number. Additionally, page numbers are automatically updated if pages are added or deleted for greater flexibility.
Publish to Technical Communications Standard
File Format Support and Industry Standard Compliance
Create, share, and deliver standardized technical documentation with support for over 100 formats, including AutoCAD DWG and DXF, Microsoft Visio (VSD), WebCGM and S1000D, Microsoft Publisher 2010, SVG, DOCX, EPS, TIFF, PDF, and others.
Support is also offered for Adobe products, including Adobe CS6 (PSD, AI), and Adobe Acrobat X.
Automated SVG Export
Automated publishing to SVG can be fully automated as a background task, which enables advanced integration with Technical Authoring Systems and any Content Management System. The SVG file format is the HTML 5-supported vector graphics file type for online publication of scalable graphics.
Complex Script Support
A redesigned text engine supports complex scripts and ensures proper typesetting for glyphs used by Asian and Middle Eastern languages, making it particularly useful for multilingual technical illustrations and localized technical illustrations with text.
Heightened Performance and Speed
Multi-Core Processor and Native 64-Bit Support
Built-in support for multi-core processing power and true native 64-bit Windows 7 and Windows 8 applications permits a faster overall workflow for quickly processing larger files and images, as well as simultaneously working with several applications.
Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications 7.1
Incorporated into the technical suite, Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Applications (VSTA 2.0) allows you to create macros and add-ins. Native 64-bit support for Microsoft Visual Basic for Applications (VBA 7.1) helps to perform simple customization tasks for creating connections to Content Management Systems (CMS), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and Product Data Management (PDM) Systems.
Hotspots can be manually applied to callouts for intuitively linking to additional data. Complete callout objects, such as leader lines, text, and the surrounding halo, can also be added to this hotspot to make the entire callout interactive. This capability is especially useful when publishing projects to CGM or SVG.
Advanced Image Editing
Complementing working with DESIGNER and DRAW programs, the PHOTO-PAINT X6 program allows you to edit imagery and cut out unwanted objects using the SmartCarver tool. Additionally, non-destructive editing tools like Clip Mask and Pass Through Merge Mode in layered bitmaps, are also available to help produce clearly understandable imagery that functions alongside technical illustrations.
Complementing the technical illustration and drafting capabilities of the suite, this graphic design program provides rich vector-based illustration and page layout tools for enhanced visual appeal.
