Clik Elite Obscura overview

  • 1Description

The blue Obscura Camera Backpack from Clik Elite is a lightweight travel backpack that holds a standard DSLR with a up to a 70-200mm f/2.8 telephoto lens inside a telescoping, swing-around access, side-port called a "Zoom Cell." To hold the rest of your gear, the top of the main compartment's interior features a built-in "Marsupial" photo gear pouch, which has a touch-fastened flap closure and holds two lenses and a flash around one padded interior divider creating two sections. The backpack also accommodates a 15" MacBook Pro in a dedicated slip pocket behind the pouch.

To organize your accessories, there is a front zippered pouch at the top of the bag that features an interior organizer, and another vertically zippered mesh pocket lower down on the front. A side mesh slip pocket allows you to hold a water bottle or use it like a tripod cup, which, along with a side compression strap, will secure a tripod. For attaching a tripod to the front of the backpack, there are two pass-through ports with tuck-away attachment cords that provide a stable platform for a tripod leg to slip through.

For comfortably carrying the backpack, there are breathable, padded shoulder straps with additional support from load lifter straps, and a LightWave back support system that increases air circulation by venting heat and moisture. For even weight distribution, this system is designed to bend towards, and contour to, your back, but maintain an even pressure by not bending the other way. A wide, padded waist belt features a zippered pouch to store smaller accessories and nylon attachment webbing to secure accessories like climbing gear. For further help carrying the backpack, there are also sternum straps.

Organizer inside front pouch includes two touch fastened memory card pockets with a gray and red slot each, storing either four memory cards, or only two cards using the red or gray compartments depending on whether the card is empty or full
Side compressions straps stabilize and compress the load
Four reinforced accessory loops surround the front pouch for attaching items like helmets and rope
ChestPort and accessory compatible attachment points allow attachment of optional Chestport compatible accessories
Internal lightweight aluminum frame provides structure and weight support to the pack
A slip pocket behind the back support system is designed to store a 100 oz hydration pack
Water drainage port underneath the hydration pocket allows burst water packs to drip out instead of soaking into the camera compartment
A "Rain Fly" attached rain cover rests inside a slip pocket at the base

    Clik Elite Obscura reviews

Obscura Camera Backpack (Blue) is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 10.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from So Close but yet so far Backpack is pretty good quality construction and well thought out. However the low rating is because I am pretty upset that it does not fit a 15inch macbook pro. The Clik elite team responded to my questions super fast and happily informed me that it would fit a 15inch Macbook pro. Well when it arrived, my laptop would not fit. Turns out it is so tightly designed that it will only fit the new ultra slim models. So advertising it as a 15inch sleeve seems rather false considering it won't fit any other laptops than the ultra slim newer macbook. After I purchased I was no longer a potential customer and Clik Elite were not interested in talking to me anymore. The marsupial pouch is also large and floppy I imagine it would be pretty useless in real life.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not for tall folks This really is a good day pack for hiking, but they have missed the mark on the ergonomic design. I am 6'2 and could not adjust the shoulder straps to comfortably rest the waist strap on the hips. Even when i got close the upper chest strap was up by my throat. The construction and over design look great. The marsupial pouch could use a second divider. The side access for the camera and lens is also too tight. It was tight for my Cannon 5D III even after removing the tripod mount and the GPS unit, which negates the quick access intent. If you are average height and don't mind those other issues it is a great pack. Distributes the weight in the correct areas and keeps it tight to the body with room for filling with clothing, snacks, water bottles etc. Looked well put together too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost the perfect bag! I was looking for a bag to replace my Lowepro Photo Sport 200 AW which was a tad too small, not comfortable at all for heavy loads and long hikes, and a bit frustrating because of the open space in the main compartment (things would always fall down - this bag would benefit from a separator in the bottom section). The new bag had to be sturdy, have a side access to the camera, be very comfortable for heavy loads, have enough room to hold everything I needed for a day hike and be the right format to fit in cabin on a plane. Let me start with the best part: this is the most confortable bag I ever got. I read some comments about tall people having issues with this bag being just too short, but at 6 feet, I can easily adjust the straps to make it sit on the hips. It is well made to support the weight close to the body, and lower in the bag. My main complaint is about the so called marsupial pouch to hold the extra lenses and external flash. I only saw pictures of the older model (2013) and that pouch had two dividers (even the official site says dividers for the 2014 model!). In reality, it's not well padded, it's very soft and it has only one divider in the middle. Useless. Lenses are loose and moving all around in the pouch. Thankfully, I have great ideas and my wife can make them happen. We custom built a better pouch with two dividers that I inserted in the marsupial pouch to add stiffness and more options to carry all kind of lenses. I'm glad we could do that, otherwise I'm not sure I would have kept the bag. Everything else on the bag seems durable and well thought out. I like the rain cover and hydration sleeve compartment that I also have on my other hiking Deuter backpacks. It seems like a winner.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great design, need more sizes The Good: Finally somebody gets the need for good camera features and good hiking features in one pack! Have looked far and wide for a decent suspension for all day hiking with a proper hip belt, water bladder sleeve and room for the 10 essentials that also included protection and access for real photo gear and the Clik Elite has it. The side access can take a full frame Canon with a lens, and everything is well protected (not that I actually rolled it down a hill to test it). The Bad: They make one size and it was too small for me. I'm 6'2'', but long in the torso so I'm used to things being a little small but this was unusable for me, I would have returned it if my buddy hadn't wanted it. The Suggestions: The marsupial pack seemed great, but I think it should be removable so you could choose to be photo gear heavy, or outdoor gear heavy as needed. Multiple sizes, or a suspension that's adjustable. I wouldn't call it heavy, but you could probably whittle off some weight. Bottom Line: Great pack, if it fits.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great backpack for hikes and travel I bought this backpack before my track to MachuPichu. This is the perfect backpack for photo gear I had until now. Very compftable on the back, a lot of space and good excess to the camera body. It is a big backpack but small enough to board with to the airplane. I can fit inside my camera body+ a wide lens, two more lenses in the storage pocket with extra accesories, my 13 inch laptop, my ipad and a lot more.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from bit of a let down good size bag and ticked all the boxes I wanted in a bag. Camera with not a huge kit of gear, laptop, and plenty of room for extra stuff. After receiving it I was super disappointed... This bag is meant for a very small person. I'm 5'11 and large and this thing fit horribly. Does not fit my laptop. Like others have mentioned, it will only fit the newer, slimmer, 2015 macbook pro (older ones will NOT fit). Apparently this is a VERY small laptop as my 14 lenovo was a no go. According to the measurements given by click elite, it should fit. But they assume the sleek and rounded edge design of a 2015 macbook pro. Super lame. My canon 5d mkII with my carry speed shoulder strap plate did not fit in the pouch very well. Kinda had to yank it out... And the camera compartment, while soft, will not hold its shape. I was hoping for something a little more clever when they said it was telescopic zoom cell. It's really more just a soft pouch that collapses down. If you have the pack full of goods, it can make it difficult to put your camera back in after you've removed it. The pouch was cool and I think it would have worked nicely however it came with only one divider instead of two (shown in some of the product photos on CE site). I returned it without hassle given the misleading dimensions about the laptop sleeve. My laptop (t410s) was a 1/2 smaller in both width and depth and it still didn't fit. Why would you not make it out of neoprene or something more stretchy to accommodate real laptops? I went and picked up the contrejour 40 backpack. Larger but better in every possible way. There is a reason this bag is half the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Bag Have only used the bag once so far and it did everything I expected it too. During my two hour hike it was very comfortable and easy to put on and remove. I am 5'10 and 165lbs. I was able to fit three lenses and a flash in the internal lens pouch. There's only 1 Velcro divider so I used a spare from another bag to keep them from rubbing. The only negative is that I found getting my Camera (Canon T5i) in and out of the bag wasn't as easy as some other bags I have tried. The opening for the camera isn't padded and doesn't hold its shape very well so even though the opening is plenty wide enough for my camera it kept getting snagged on the edges while pulling it out. Don't think it will be enough to make me return it but it does slow you down a bit if your quickly trying to pull out the camera for a shot. Its overall a great bag with plenty of storage. And for the price ($) nothing else compares.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality Backpack Very well made. Perfect size for me for 1-2 day trips. Packing D810 with 70-200 f/2.8 fills a little tight. Holds equipment secure, not quick access (I don't think backpacks are designed for that matter). MacBook Pro 13.3 fits well. Can comfortably carry almost everything I need without braking my back.
