The Zacuto Blackmagic Pocket Camera Z-Finder 2x is an optical viewfinder designed specifically for use with the LCD screen on the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. The Z-Finder uses 2x magnification to turn the camera's 3.5" LCD screen into a clear, easy-to-focus viewfinder that lets you see your image in magnified detail. Thanks to the light-proof eyecup it also provides added stability to your handheld footage by adding a point-of-contact between the camera and your eye.

The Blackmagic Pocket Camera Z-Finder features a redesigned optics system which allows you to apply optical correction depending on your eyesight. The system uses a set of four diopters (0, +1, +2, and +3), and an additional -1 and +4 diopter can be purchased separately. Coated on all the diopters is Zacuto's improved anti-fog formula to prevent fog from forming on your viewfinder. The 0 diopter gives you fog protection without adding optical correction.

In order to attach the Z-Finder to Your Pocket Cinema Camera, the Zacuto adhesive frame must be placed around the LCD screen. Once in place, the Z-Finder will pop on and off the frame for quick shooting. When not in use, the Z-Finder can hang around your neck using the included lanyard. Also included in a convenient carry pouch and a newly designed sun mask to reduce the risk of sun damage to your camera's LCD screen.

Note: The Z-Finder is a magnifier and as such will magnify the sun which can damage the LCD screen if the sun is allowed to shine directly through the Z-finder lens. Use the enclosed lens cap to block light from entering your Z-finder when not in use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Z Finder for BMPCC I recently got the BMPCC which has a not so great LCD screen to monitor your shoots. The alternative was to get an expensive EVF or a small LCD monitor. AS of now either option may not work due to the 10Bit 4:2:2 output the Pocket Camera has. In fact I do have a a Sony Monitor that refuses to play with the BMPCC. After much research for an EVF or an LCDVF, I decide to go with the Zacuto zFinder, and it works great. The finder as the other Zacuto products is solid, well made, the diopters are right on the money and it fits the camera like it is part of it. Indeed the not so great monitor from the BMPCC has become magnificent. If you get a BMPCC you need the Z Finder, its a must.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really love the Z-Finder I used to use my BMPCC more - but got the A7sII and now it's on a rig... and I miss having something small at hand to just shoot around with. So I got out my BMPCC, which is not small with an EVF attached, and who wants to carry batteries for that, too? So I saw the Z-Finder, and it has really brought this camera back to life for me. I wouldn't say it makes the screen a great screen - that's still a real weakness of this camera - but it makes focusing better, gives that third point of contact, and just brings me closer to the camera - totally changes the experience of shooting with it. BMPCC is back in the bag, and going to earn some money this week.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don't let the DP's Deter this purchase Use your common sense and try this handy well fitting little gem. No it isn't an EFV and unlike many EFV units it doesn't cost more than the intended camera itself. The best news about the Z-Finder for the BMPCC is it makes a viewfinder that is dismal at best in bright sunlight and allows it to become functional. the plastic is sturdy, fit and finish are good. The diopters are included in the price. lastly If you want attention buy the EFV and the equipment that follows. if you follow the KISS principle and keep things to a minimum then this product is probably what you have been looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the Pocket! I purchased this in January 2014. I was miffed that Zacuto took over 2 months to have these ready to go, but when I finally recieved this I was quite impressed. This is my first venture into any Zacuto product and I must admit it is very well made. It comes with 2 strong LCD stick on frames which are robust and really are bonded to the rear of the camera. Also in the pack are 3 lenses for you to adjust the diopter for those who need glasses. I was going to buy the Kinotehnik LCDVF BM but read too many negative comments on forums about build quality and how you need to buy 37mm close up lenses to adjust the diopter. So a big no. I am happy I purchased this Z-Finder and having the spare frame maybe useful for a totally different camera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sold performer Major improvement in usability of the viewfinder during sunny days. It was very easy to apply the stick on frame. Instructions did not make it clear that one of the two included frames (one spare) is already attached to the viewfinder. Easy to snap on and off as needed. This could have been a concern but it's very durable. Changing the diopter is simple but you need a small computer/electronics philips screwdriver. It may require several switches to find out which diopter works best for one's eyes if one needs a diopter. There's no envelope for the 0 diopter if you remove it and it can create confusion if you place it in one of the hand labeled envelopes. I wish the diopter holders were something sturdier that small envelopes, had real labels, had one for the 0 diopter when swapped. The 2x magnification is good. Competing products may user greater magnification which would be a problem given the low resolution of the BMPCC screen. 2x idea. Lanyard is a bit tricky to thread to the viewfinder. At the time I write this, Zacuto didn't seem to have a PDF version of the instructions for this viewfinder online. Overall excellent device but user guide and packaging could use improvement.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Finding it difficult to focus... If you already have the Kinotehnik and are considering switching to the Zacuto to take advantage of the anti-fog diopters, reconsider. I'm having a hard time focusing using any of the included diopters. I could buy the +4, but considering I only had to use a +2 diopter with the Kinotehnik, I'm not sure the +4 would be the solution.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must Have For BMPCC I've been using this product as a viewfinder on the back of my BMPCC, primarily in outdoor or bright situations. It's a must have for critical focus and exposure using the built in screen. Personally, I couldn't turn down this product down because it was priced right. I've also owned a Z-Finder EVF and I just love the ability to get your eyes submerged into the image you are capturing. It also helps to imagine how your audience will see your image because it's like your placing your eye up to the projection booth window in a movie theater. I don't like how you have to be careful about the sun shining through, but luckily Zacuto has made improvement with their sunshade. It's not nearly as dangerous as when the Z-Finders were released years ago.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect, and NEEDED! I love my Blackmagic Pocket Camera, even though it ended up costing me twice as much with all the stuff I needed to make it just right. It turns out, the least expensive required add-on is this viewfinder. We took our daughter to Disney last month and there was no way I could see the screen in the sun, so I had to guess-and-crop for many of the outdoor shots. As soon as we got home, I purchased the Zacuto Blackmagic Pocket Camera Z-Finder 2x. I knew very little about Zacuto but purchased it because it included a few diopters. It works great. This is not cheep feeling , even though it is VERY light. Solid, well made, and fits perfectly. I was so impressed with the design and build of this, I went right to their website to see what else they make that I need. If I was forced to find a problem, it is trying to get the lanyard through the opening. That was a PAIN, but not enough of an issue to lower my rating.
