    Polaroid PL-190 reviews

PL-190 TTL Flash for Nikon Cameras is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 18.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from The answer for those on a budget I bought two of these instead of paying for another SB700 and I am glad I did. A project, with a deadline, was looming and I wanted more speedlights for a shoot. They did the trick. Easy to understand and works great with Nikon's CLS (creative lighting system. Not built near as well as Nikon but if taken care of, they should last a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice flash without breaking the bank Does everything the Nikon flash does at a lower price. Great results with it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Very capable system flash PL-190 performs most of if not all functions of camera manufacturer's dedicated flash units at a fraction of the price. Automatic zoom, i-TTL for Nikon or E-TTL for Canon AND full wireless master or slave functions for multiple flash use. Unfortunately, it did not provide TTL functions with my older film camera, the Nikon F100. It also does not have non-TTL automatic exposure control which would have made it much more useful as an off-camera slave. Easy to use and very intuitive controls. It gives great coverage, from 18mm to 180mm. It would work fine as a slave even with a small point and shoot camera. By adjusting the flash output from full to 1/128 the exact amount of fill light can be dialed in. That works perfectly with digital, not so good trying to dial in perfect exposure with film. Rating would have been five stars if: 1) it worked with my F100 AND 2) it provided automatic (A) exposure control

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value The construction is sturdy and looks really fine. Has enough power for using on broad daylight and even overpower sunlight with the high speed sync feature. I own two of these and work great with the integrated TTL transceivers i use them in conjunction with my old Radio trigger (universal, non ttl) and other brand flashes and work seamlessly. They're a little bulky, but it adds to the pro look that many customer like to see and also adds to the overall strength of the units.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Flash PL-190 The Flash purchased as a gift for our son. He began to use the flash immediately ,varying the light in the room so he could adjust the flash. He swiveled the flash to maximize direction of light to the subject. Our son is pleased with the addition of the falsh to his photo equipment.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's On Now Brother! Im sure there are lots of speedlight flashes that are worse than this one. I mean, this one is dope....! Easy to use, and if you read the instructions once, you pretty much understand what all you have. Takes time and practice to get great night shots off, but once you can gauge how much light you need, POW!!! You ready for the next pose.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from fantastic Flash units I got 2 of these to be used in combination with Nikon SB-900 or individually and they work great. If you put the SB-900 and PL-190 together you will realize they are almost identical with the difference of the display. I have been using it for portraits as key light, fill and rim without any complaints... really good price for the quality delivered and backed up by B&H customer support

Rated 4 out of 5 by from OK, Cool but... Just got it today. Seems to work fine with my Nikon F100. It does not auto zoom as it would with a modern Nikon camera. It does seem to do autofocus assist in dim light. I can't see the red beam but I do hear the lens focusing. I haven't developed the film yet to confirm that good focusing was achieved. I did test it as an off camera slave in Mode S1. Yes, very sensitive. It responded to a little Canon point and shoot camera flash. This will be great for flash fill and off axis flash, especially with its bounce capability. Documentation is poor, there is no table for guide numbers at focal length other than BH's listing of 177' at 35mm. I believe that correlates to GN of 88' at 17mm. I am disappointed that the flash does not have an internal Auto mode; where you would set the aperture according to distance to subject and the flash would control its output. 5 stars if the flash had this feature! I'll add to or write another review based on further experience.
