Cool-Lux CL2000 overview

  • 1Description

The CL2000BFX Bi-Color PRO Studio LED Flood Light with DMX from Cool-Lux is a 27.5 x 19 x 2.75" LED panel designed for professional video, broadcast and still applications. The light features variable color balance from 3,200 - 5,600K to accommodate ambient light conditions or match other fixtures without fumbling with filters. The CL2000BFX's high CRI of >95 ensures precise color rendering and pleasing flesh tones, while outputting 1,100 fc at 3' (the equivalent of a 2,000W hot light flood) with a low 120W electrical draw. Like color balance, light intensity can be adjusted locally from 100-0% with a rear-panel dial or remotely via DMX. The CL2000BFX 's 60 degree beam angle ensures wide coverage that can be contoured and controlled with optional barndoors. Post-purchase benefits include reduced operating costs thanks to the CL2000BFX's cool running LEDs that require far less air-conditioning in the studio, virtually no maintenance, and with a 50,000 hour life, no re-lamping and downtime.

The CL2000BFX's sturdy aluminum body is supported by a yoke with a 5/8" stand mount that can be repositioned anywhere along its frame. The AC only fixture's 100-240VAC power supply means you can use it anywhere in the world. A protective lens cover is also included for transport.

    Cool-Lux CL2000 reviews

CL2000BFX Bi-Color PRO Studio LED Flood Light with DMX is rated 2.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not thrilled. In manual mode, they work as you would expect. Nice big, soft light, able to adjust the color between tungsten and daylight. But there were a multitude of issues with the DMX controls. 1) Back-order - they say 4-6 weeks for back order, mine was almost 3 months. If you need these right away, don't bother. I'm still waiting on the barn doors. 2) No manual. I had ordered 3 lights, none of them had manuals. I went to the Cool-Lux web site and there is some cryptic notes about hooking up the DMX portion. I sent an email to tech support, they sent back a more detailed Word document. However it did not have critical information to get the system up on a DMX controller (like making sure they are separated by two channels). 3) The DMX system only works as expected if you're using channels 1 and 2. Channel 1 will adjust the color, channel 2 will adjust the lum. But Channel 3 -> the rest of the board will adjust both lum and color at the same time regardless of the channel programmed in to the light, even if it is the light assigned to channel 1-2. Again, I contacted Cool-Lux. Apparently there is a known problem with the firmware so now I have to send all the lights back to get them updated. I run a one-man shop so using a DMX controller is a HUGE time saver for me. Without letting me do multiple channel selections on the lights they're pretty much a waste of money for that feature. There are other lights that do use DMX control, I would encourage you to investigate and do your homework.
