I have a Canon 70D with an 18-135 mm lens and a Shure VP83 mic. The total weight is 3-1/2 pounds. Does anybody have experience using the UltraLite with equipment in the 3-1/2 to 4 lb range? I would prefer to get the UltraLite instead of the Extreme because it is half the weight (2lb vs. 4lb) and because the base looks a bit shorter front-to-back. However, I am concerned that the maximum recommended weight is 3lb and that the extra 1/2 to 1 pound of extra weight will impair my ability to get stable shots. Also, I have never used a stabilizer and I just started shooting video with a DSLR. Thanks.

I use the SteadyTracker with a Canon 7D, with NTG2(and shockmount) and a heavy Tamron 10-24mm lens. Being half a pound over is nothing I would worry about it. In my experience using this for the past year the heavier the camera the better it works. When I use a very light setup I find it sways a little bit but with a heavier camera it works perfectly.
