Ansmann 1001-0004-US overview

  • 1Description

The ENERGY 16 PLUS Charger from Ansmann is compatible with AAA, AA, C, D and 9V E NiMH and NiCd cells. It can even charge NiMH and NiCd batteries simultaneously. It is capable of handling 1-12 AAA/AAs, 1-6 C/D cells, or 1-2 9V E cells. Charging is controlled by a microprocessor and battery status is monitored and available on the LED indicators. Additionally, the ENERGY 16 PLUS features dual USB power banks to enable you to charge your smartphone or other mobile device.

Your batteries will benefit from an automatic refresh function, as well as automatic switching to trickle charging to prevent self-discharge when they are left in the unit. Reverse polarity protection safeguards the batteries and charger against damage when batteries are installed incorrectly. A quick capacity test can be performed on each battery, too, with results reported about 10 seconds after battery insertion.

The charger runs on 100-240 VAC power for worldwide use, and includes a 6' power cord. Depending upon battery size, it will supply 60-1000mA of current per cell.

Compatible with AAA, AA, C, D and 9V E NiMH and NiCd batteries.
Will charge NiMH and NiCd cells simultaneously.
Capable of handling 1-12 AAA or AA, 1-6 C or D, or 1-2 9V E batteries. Charging begins automatically as soon as contact with the battery is made.
Charging is controlled by a Delta-V microprocessor, and the status of each battery is individually monitored and available on the LED indicators. The charger detects the difference between the charging voltage and the charge in the batteries, and stops the process when the batteries are full, in order to prevent overcharging. Current is adjusted automatically.
LED flashes green in pre-charging mode, red and green in refresh mode, and red when a faulty battery or alkaline cell is detected. A constant red LED indicates fast charge mode, while a constant green one means a battery is full and trickle charging is in progress.
Dual USB power banks allow you to charge the majority of USB-powered mobile devices, including smartphones.
Features an automatic refresh function and performs automatic switching to trickle charging to prevent self-discharge when batteries are left in the unit.
Reverse polarity protection safeguards the batteries and charger against damage when batteries are installed incorrectly.
Faulty cell and alkaline battery detection ensure that the charger does not attempt to charge bad or non-rechargeable batteries.
Quick capacity test can be performed on each battery, too, with results reported about 10 seconds after battery insertion. The LED indicators display the following colors: green for over 80% of the nominal capacity, orange for 25-80%, and red for under 25%.
Automatic diagnosis of inserted cells prompts charger to begin pre-charging or refreshing, if needed, prior to the regular fast charging process.
Runs on 100-240 VAC power for worldwide use. Depending upon battery size, it will supply 60-1000mA of current per cell.

    Ansmann 1001-0004-US reviews

ENERGY 16 PLUS Charger for NiMH or NiCd Batteries is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 9.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Versatile and well-engineered charger This charger will test the battery and if needed refresh it. If has lost some of its nominal capacity to hold a full charge, the Energy16 Plus will use a discharge/recharge function to improve the battery's capacity or as it says of the package, tired cells with be activated. You can also learn which batteries are useless and need to be discarded. It has individual supervision of each cell. When the battery is fully charged, the charged detects that and switches to trickle charge to keep the batteries fully charged. I use the charger to charge batteries for my strobes. It will simultaneously recharge three sets of 4 AA batteries. It's big, but at least I'm not trying to find outlets for multiple 4-battery chargers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This thing is a beast! I'm really attracted to nice products, and nice packaging is always a bonus. It really blew away every expectation that I had in my mind. When I opened the box, I was drawn to the quality color packaging of the charger. If you spend this kind of money on packaging, you know they're proud of their product. The power cord doesn't have a bulky transformer built in like alot of the other chargers we own...nice touch. It charges everything from AA's to 9V's and everything in between and includes 2 USB ports to charge iPods/iPads and Smartphones. The status lights are a nice bonus and the 'refreshing' feature tops off this top of the line charger. If you're debating about whether or not to buy this thing, let me be the first to tell you...do it. You will not be disappointed in functionality...it's Ansmann, you can't go wrong!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very pleased. This charger is large, about 9.5 in by 10.5 in., but it doesn't have a brick on the power cord, so we're good. We've charged every size battery except D cells, we don't seem to have a need for those at the moment. We're very happy with the performance of this charger. I love recharging 9V cells. I think the design would be improved with a cover on the top, as dust can drop right into the business end of this device. The charger is so large that many people will not have a drawer or cupboard that this can hide in, so a dust cover makes sense, particularly if they want to take advantage of the USB ports. My best charger was a Radio Shack charger without a brick, that had a sturdy clear lid that snapped shut over the charging batteries, or you could switch it off and store the batteries in there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Great! This charger is maximum performance. It charges quickly and, just as important treats my batteries with TLC. It doesn't just slam the batteries with a charge but also tests and monitors battery condition before, during, and after charging. I am very pleased.
