The Ultimate GP Ballhead with Lever Clamp from Acratech is a precision-machined, compact ballhead with a load capacity of 25 lb. It fits standard 3/8"-16 tripod mounts but is adaptable to 1/4"-20 with an appropriate bushing. This head has the ability to function as a gimbal head for use with lenses up to 400mm f/4.0, negating the need for a gimbal attachment. The Ultimate GP can be used upside-down as a leveling and panning head. Additionally - the base features engraved degree markings for shooting precise panoramic images.

The elimination of lubricants in the design helps prevent "head-creep" which can lead to accidents and ensures continued smooth rotation and freedom of movement. The Ultimate features separate controls for pan control and ball tension. The quick release clamp features a bubble level. This ballhead has a satin black anodized finish and is manufactured in the USA.

Ultimate GP Ballhead with Lever Clamp is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lightweight, compact, & solid build This is my 2nd Acratech Ballhead (3rd if you count the one I bought my son) - the first was a GP model and I've used it with my Toyo 4x5, my Mamiya 645, and my Canon 5D Mark III. Along with my carbon fiber tripod, the total weight in the field beats my previous set ups. I have used the GP for about 3 years in all kinds of weather without problems. I bought this new Ultimate GP as a backup (along with a new FC tripod) for two reasons: the lever clamp as well as the ability to shoot completely vertically. The one issue I have with it is that once you put the camera in place, you can no longer see the level, making it very difficult to use in practice. Great build and weight.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Ballhead That Sets the Standard Was considering different ballheads from Arca-Swiss, Kirk and really Right Stuff. A combination of its open construction, leveling head and ability to adjust the ballhead to allow the camera to point straight down were the difference makers for me.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Still testing... I love the ball head. It's very well designed and extremely light weight yet very sturdy. The only concern I have is the lever lock on the quick release. It is very difficult to fully engage in the locked position. I will purchase another Ultimate head but I will probably opt for the twist knob clamp instead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made ballhead I owned several ballheads and this one is probably the best. Compared to a very heavy Sirui, which is very good. But this one is much lighter in weight and seems to work better on a monopod.
