Sirui SUEN2004 overview

  • 1Description

The EN-2004 Aluminum Tripod from Sirui is a full-size four-section aluminum alloy tripod that can convert into a monopod for versatile applications. With the center column extended, the tripod's maximum height is 65" and as a monopod its maximum height is 64". The tripod weighs just 4.2 lb and can support up to 31 lb. The split center column allows for easy changeover to a short column for low angle shots. Also, the center column can be reversed to shoot from under the tripod.

The four-section legs feature flip locks for easy adjustment and each leg can be independently placed at three position angles and automatically lock in place for secure shooting on uneven ground. Retractable spiked feet supply additional stability when shooting outdoors. The legs on the EN-2004 fold up 180º for compact storage and transport; its folded length is just 19". The tripod's rugged spider is made from forged aluminum alloy and the legs are made from economical aluminum alloy for stability, performance and longevity.

    Sirui SUEN2004 reviews

EN-2004 Aluminum Tripod is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 7.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice, solidly constructed tripod Use this for macro photography, slow shutter speed special effects (like blurring ocean flowing over rocky outcroppings while taking sunset photos), panoramic landscapes and getting myself into a photo. Like the lever leg adjusters, faster and easier than screw type. Steel points can be extended from each foot to get an even more secure footing on some surfaces. Center section can be shortened to get the camera really low to the ground. Very easy to convert one leg to a monopod. Folds to only 18 or 19 inches - easily fits into a medium sized suitcase. Lots of adjustments can me made using the included Allen wrenches.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Make Certain of Your Weight Requirements I bought this product for my supertelephoto lenses thinking that the rated weight specs were adequate for my purposes. I affixed my Wimberely and then tried each of my long lenses. While my camera Nikon 810 and each of the lenses plus the Wimberely were about 15 lbs less than the rating max, the set up was not stable. I returned the tripod and upgraded to a carbon tripod with a 55 lb rating, 70 inch height max and no center column with flip locks ( my particular preference). This aluminum tripod is fine for smaller and lighter set ups.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Chappy These sticks are massive overkill for my Samsung NX500. And massive overkill is exactly what you want when it comes to sticks. Very, very steady. Easy to adjust. Fast, easy, smooth set up with the speed locks. Nice that Sirui got around to offering them. These seem very well made but I haven't had the chance to abuse them yet. They're set close enough so that you can open or close all three locks on a leg with one hand. The leg joints at the spider came set fairly stiff from the factory. Naturally, that can be easily adjusted by loosenging them with an (included) allen wrench. The only moving part on the pod which wasn't oily-smooth was the post. But... so what? The aluminum 2004 is only about 10 ounces heavier than the carbon fiber 2204 -- and at just over 4lbs is very light considering how solid it is. Folded legs-up, it's small enough to fit in a carry on bag. F&F is excellent. The bag -- which I may never use -- reeks of quality. Even the strap is nicely made; allthough I'll probably eventually upgrade to a Gordy because... y'know. The head mounting plate is made to match the bottom pates on Sirui's G and K-20 heads. The K-20X, which I bought at the same time I purchased the 'pod, is the perfect partner. Get one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from B & H, helped me pick out the tripod, which, I would need. My EN-2004 Aluminum Tripod, is just the tripod, with no head attached, which, is how we cam up with what I needed, for my GH2 Gimbal Head. The tripod is very easy to set up, especially, with the fold down locking on the legs. This tripod support my Nikon 3200 DSLR camera, with my Nikkor 200-500 mm lens, which, weighs in at 5 pounds, plus the camera weight and the GH2 Gimbal Head, this tripod will support up to a 50 pounds of attachments, with ease.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Tripod Exactly What I Was Looking For! The Sirui EN2004 is light weight, sturdy and compact for travel. All the funcutions operate with ease. Currently I am using a 40 year old tripod that weighs 20lbs and am most satisfied with it. However, in long distance trips the Sirui will be the answer to traveling lighter with assurance that it will hold up under most conditions. I only use a tripod and do not hand hold so the Sirui has to stand up to my standards.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Strong & Not Too Heavy I'm very pleased with this tripod at this price! I'm using it with a big, heavy 3-way Manfrotto head and Toyo 45AX large format field camera. It gives me a lot of confidence in supporting this setup, including in light wind (haven't been out in strong wind). The only thing I don't love is that it doesn't feel quite as stable when the center column is brought up past the point where its two sections meet--it wasn't terrible, but a little shakier than when the center column is kept low. I was able to improve this a little by tightening the piece that screws into the bottom of the column. The legs extensions offer enough height without raising the center column in most situations. I have not yet added any weight to the hook on the bottom of the center column, but I expect it'll feel even better when I do. This tripod is fairly light for an aluminum tripod with a 30+ pound weight capacity, and the carrying case with handle and shoulder strap is really nice, although I cannot fit the massive head I'm using. A ball head would fit very nicely and probably make this a great tripod for walking around or hiking or otherwise traveling.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for the price. So far it seems just fine. Base of carrying case could be a bit more sturdy. Rotating mast is a bit awkward.
