Behringer K10S overview

  • 1Description

The NEKKST K10S Audiophile 180W 10" Subwoofer from Behringer is an active subwoofer for your home or professional studio.

Equipped with a 180-watt bridge-mode amplifier that powers the 10" woofer, the NEKKST K10S is designed to offer detailed reproduction of the full low frequency spectrum. The long-throw woofer with deformation-resistant glass fiber cone has been engineered to deliver a clear and tight low end response. The advanced waveguide technology improves acoustic dispersion and lends to a larger sweet spot.

The NEKKST K10S provides flexible connectivity, allowing for input via XLR or RCA, as well as output to your stereo monitors via XLR or RCA. It also provides a variable low-pass filter, level control and phase switch for crossover alignment with your stereo monitors.

    Behringer K10S reviews

NEKKST K10S Audiophile 180W 10" Studio Subwoofer is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Best buy in a small subwoofer I use this sub as a bottom end to a pair of Prodipe Ribbon 8 Pro studio monitors for keyboard reinforcement in a practice studio. I've been a musician all my life, and I'm pretty particular about my sound. Case in point: it could be argued that 8 studio monitors don't *need* the bass extension of a subwoofer; but when used a higher volumes, the lack of headroom in the low end quickly jumps out. I was a little skeptical of the ability of a $250 subwoofer to compete against the higher-priced offerings as a 'pro' product, but I the specs looked good, so I figured the risk of the cost of a return was worth it. I'm glad I took the leap. First off, let me say that I'm not a fan of overhyped, boomy bass. I like to *feel* the low end as much as hear it, and I like the snare and kick drum to be very tight. This sub delivers exactly what I was looking for: headroom and extension below 60Hz to supplement the main speakers' limitations; and no false warmth or coloration of the bottom end. The 180W amp is more than enough to keep up with the pair of 140W (bi-amped) monitors. The end result as the same sound as before, but more solid and punchy. What don't I like? 1) The controls are minimal -- just volume and a LPF cutoff. And the cutoff doesn't even have frequencies; it's marked with the names of the three monitors of the K series. (Start with the number that matches your speaker size, and use your ears from there.) Some EQ settings would be nice. 2) The audio ins and outs are pass-thru style. A set of HPF outputs would be nice, to remove the frequencies that the monitors can really handle. 3) Oh, and the lighted logo on the front isn't necessary for me. Other than that, it's great. Then again, most of those items would probably drive the cost up.
