    Electro-Voice RE50N/D-B reviews

RE50N/D-B - Omnidirectional Dynamic Shockmounted ENG Microphone with Neodymium Capsule (Black) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The best ENG microphone yet! As a working journalist in New York City I use this mic several times a day in virtually every environment imaginable and it is yet to disappoint. The RE50 is a great mic, but the RE50N provides superior audio output; well worth the few extra bucks. Durable and ergonomic this mic is comfortable to hold and has withstood tons of abuse, yet continues to provide the same audio quality as the day I got it. Many of my fellow reporters, some using the RE50 and others using far more expensive ENG mics have come to me when they missed something and marveled at the high quality of this microphone. The RE50/N is by far the best microphone I've ever used and has far surpassed my expectations! Remember: If it can make it here it can make it anywhere...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Standard for a reason Lives up to its reputation. Bulletproof, high quality, good vocal (speech) mic. N version has higher output and is worth the few extra dollars. Resistant to wind, rain and snow. Fat barrel makes it easier for talent to hold even with gloves. Just great!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good Microphone I bought this Mic to do interviews with lots of background noise. It does a good job. If I could have tested them before my purchase, I would have preferred one that cut out more background noise. It is well made and did a good job though.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Ok; not as good as Sennheiser Equivalent I ordered this and the Sennheiser MD46. Both are rugged, ENG dyanmics that cost$.The EV feels/looks/sounds cheaper than the Sennheiser; not a huge difference, but if you had to choose one; it wouldn't be the EV.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brings Home the Sound! What can you say about an item that has been working great for over a decade? The RE50 is just a GREAT microphone, we use it every day in every kind of situation. It just works and brings home the sound!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from OUTSTANDING HAND HELD MIC There is virtually no hand movement on the shaft of the RE50N/D-B hand held mic and the audio quality is outstanding. It replaces an older RE50 that has seen a finer day and the difference was noticeable. A great investment that is worth the addl. dollars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I was looking for! I was using a small camera mounted shotgun style microphone from a well known manufacturer. I was using it at crowded events. The sound was, how ever, just fairly ok of the person being interviewed. My questions were muffled beyond the acceptable. This microphone requires that I use one hand to hold the mic. This is also one of the reasons the resulting sound track is so good. In fact chrystal clear, since it's never far from the sound source. Using one hand for audio is fine, since my camera is on a monopod and requires only initial setup for each interview. After that I can use the other hand with this RE50N/D-B to get sound that is exceptionally audiable. Even in quite high winds, there is hardly ever even a hint of low wind rumble. Handling noise is also minimal. I feel I made the right choice buying this mic.
