The Sony ECM-W1M Wireless Microphone is designed specifically for Sony cameras and camcorders that feature the proprietary Multi-Interface Shoe. The microphone comprises two components: a transmitter and a receiver. They communicate wirelessly with each other using Bluetooth technology and feature a range of up to 100', depending on conditions. With the receiver attached to your camera it is still possible to capture additional audio using the camera's built-in microphone. In addition, audio picked up by the camera can be relayed back to the transmitter. The transmitter features a headphone jack that allows the camera operator to communicate with the person wearing the transmitter by speaking into the camera's microphone. Just purchased the Sony HXR-MC2500 Shoulder Mount AVCHD Camcorder. It has multi inter face shoe so I purchased the ECM-W1M > Camera says it's not compatible! Seems like it should work. Any ideas why not?? Thanks much!
Each of my Sony cameras and camcorders indicated incompatibility the first time I tried it, but I found that it worked each time after that.

Don’t believe so because the hot shoe connection is what feeds the audio into the camera. Unaware of a way to connect the transmitter to a phone’s Bluetooth connection.

Any advice on compatibility with Sony AX-100 while also running Shotgun mic connected to AX-100 with 3.5mm input? Will it record from both mics and if so what settings should I use on the camera and the ECM-W1M receiver?
Sony states that you cannot use both the ECM-W1M wireless microphone with a shotgun microphone connected to the camera at the same time. Sony suggests to connect the ECM-W1M wireless microphone to the camera and connect the shotgun microphone to the wireless microphone using the 1/8 (3.5) miniphone input terminal. They state to please check the operating instructions included with the ECM-W1M wireless microphone regarding how to connect an external microphone to the ECM-W1M. No, the Sony ECM-W1M Wireless Microphone for Cameras with Multi-Interface Shoe is not compatible for use with the Sony NEX-VG10 Interchangeable Lens Handycam Camcorder, which does not have a Sony Multi-Interface hot shoe. The camera only has a cold shoe and would be incompatible for use with the wireless microphone listed above.
