Good Filter Adapter, but...

Once I got this adapter on the G1X M2, I left it on. Not the easiest thing getting filters on and off. A bit on the rubbery side, I’d say. I’m now using a step-up ring (58-62) that affords me more stability. And since I had an assortment of 62mm filters bought for another lens, it seemed like the best thing to do.

Quite pricey for what it is

It is a small attachment that allows you to use filters. It is pricey for what it is but get it if you want to use filters.

Very Expensive Plastic

Need this for G1X2 in order to use filters, no alternatives to select from so was stuck if I want to use filters - price is exorbitant for what it is!! It fits well on the camera and does the job - just wish it was less pricey. Price is the reason for only 3 stars.

It works.

The only thing wrong with this is that it wasn't included in the price of the camera. It is the means of attaching a filter to the G1X Mark II, and it certainly gets the job done well. It is very quick and easy to pop onto the camera.

good price, genuine part

The genuine Canon part is flimsy plastic, which seems to be minimally able to survive routine use. B&H, however, asked a fairly reasonable price. The adapters threads will survive careful use; the attachment to the camera remains the question.

Difficult to install or remove

It may serve its intended purpose but is extremely difficult to unscrew any installed filter from it without risk of damaging the zoom lens and/or built-in lens cover!

It's plastic but it works

A very overpriced piece of engineering. The adapter is made of plastic, and hence at risk of breakage. Due to the difference in materials, I am constantly worried of mis-threading the metal filter and ruining the plastic adapter. However, it does the job it is intended to do. If they were $, as they should be, one could put one on each filter for quick changes of filters.

Cost justifies gold-plating

It does the job, but feels quite fragile. For the price, they should have put at least a couple in the big box. The first time I used it my filter wouldn't unscrew. The only way to apply force was to take the adapter off the camera, but it still wouldn't budge. Eventually I warmed the adapter to expand it, and that worked. Metal screwing into plastic isn't great. But this (and a hood) really should have come with the camera - not that you can use both at the same time. But what choice do we have?

question

Will this adapter fit the lens on the Canon PowerShot G1X Mk III? Thank you
Asked by: Dr Guy J N.
I have the Mk III and I can tell you unequivocally that it takes 37mm filters with no adapter necessary.
