Vanguard 284ATB overview

  • 1Description

The Vanguard ABEO Pro 284ATB Aluminum Tripod with Ball Head combines the 284AT legs with the TBH-100 head. The tripod weighs 6.6 lb, and has a load capacity of 17.6 lb. It can extend up to 67", and folds down to 27.2". With the use of the included short column, the tripod can shoot as low as 9.4" for macro and low-angle photography.

The tripod features a multi-angle center column system that allows you to move the central column from 0 to 180-degree angles in variable vertical and horizontal positions. This makes macro photography and unique angle shots a breeze. Its Instant Swivel Stop-n-Lock (ISSL) System securely re-positions the center column in one simple movement, while maintaining the tripod's stability. When the center column is set in an angled position, a quick-adjustment lever lock makes pivoting the center column simple: flip the lock open, rotate the column to the desired position, and flip the lock closed. A ballast hook on the bottom of the center column allows you to hang a weight, adding stability to the tripod.

The tripod's legs feature flip locks and they individually adjust to 25°, 50°, and 80° angles with use of ergonomic release buttons for easy setup on uneven terrain or spreading out flat for low-angle photography. Three types of included feet provide an ideal solution for most surfaces. They include angled rubber feet, spiked feet, and a set of snow/sand shoes.

The TBH-100 is a compact and lightweight ball head that has a durable magnesium housing, and features two bubble levels for aligning your camera to the horizon. It includes an Arca-type compatible quick release plate, a built-in safety pin to prevent the risk of accidentally releasing your camera, and a large locking knob for the ball, and a separate panning lock.

    Vanguard 284ATB reviews

ABEO Pro 284ATB Aluminum Tripod with Ball Head is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product! I bought this tripod for an indoor studio setup, but the first chance I have had to use it was on an outing to shoot nesting birds. It is very heavy, which will work great in the studio setting, but would be too heavy to tote around on an outdoor excursion. The extra foot bases were cumbersome in the grass, but again will work great for stabilization in the studio and can be easily removed if needed. The ball head worked wonderful with being able to track flying birds in an easy fluid motion. Quick to lock down movement when I needed to take my hands off the camera. Did not creep when locked. It does pull the alignment down some when locking, so I would set my focus point a little high and then tighten the ball head. The set up I was using on this trip was a Nikon D7100 with a Tamron 150-600mm G2 lens and also tried a friends Canon ?? with a Sigma Sport 150-600mm (which is 2+ lbs heavier). I have not had a chance to try using the center column in the lateral position with a camera set up yet, which is why I did buy this tripod - for table top product photography. Feels very well made!! Would recommend!
