The 3x Spitfire Dual-Illumination Riflescope from Vortex Optics is designed for use with the AR platform and its specific ballistic characteristics. It uses a prism-based optical system with anti-reflective fully multicoated optics to provide a reliable sight, without taking up valuable rail space. With its 3x magnification this optic is ideal for medium to long-range use. Dual Picatinny rails, set at 45° on the upper forward half, are perfect for attaching a reflex sight or illuminator. The housing is nitrogen-filled and o-ring sealed for water and fogproof performance in all weather conditions.

The EBR-556B Enhanced Battle Reticle features a ballistic-drop compensation (BDC) configuration designed around the 5.56x45 (.223 Remington) cartridge using a 55 grain round and 16" barrel. The central crosshair is meant to be zeroed at 100 yd and is effective to 200 yd. BDC stadia on the lower vertical axis provide holdover reference points from 300 to 500 yd in one hundred yard increments. The reticle can be illuminated in either red or green, depending on the situation and preference. Each color has five selectable brightness levels, with an 'off' position between each level to quickly return to a preferred brightness without having to cycle through them all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quallity Product I purchased the Spitfire 3x for an AR that i use primarily for shooting coyotees. I have been more than pleased with this product. Installation was a snap and zeroing was simple enough. Since zeroing I haven't taken it to the range, but I have put it to good use on numerous coyote hunts. The illuminated reticle makes it quick to get on target and stay on target. I find the BDC very intuitive to use. I've used the BDC to drop a coyote at a full trot at 300m with no problems. I'd expect that it'll preform just as well out to the 500m reference. My spitfire has held zero without issue even after several bumps and tumble that occur any time your take a gun for a walk. All in all I am beyond pleased with another one of my Vortex products.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Illumination Setback The sight is terrific no doubt about it only thing I found was with illumination ,I'm surprised no one else has noticed it .when lighting up the sight the brightness between 3and 4 is the same when you move to 5 it gets very bright .in other words brightness on 3 and 4 is the same doesn't change then 5 is full bright .i wrote to vortex and they are aware of this ,I wouldn't call it a fault but they say all Current models are like this . They are working to resolve the issue and when they Do if I want they will exchange my sight for the improved model ,so what more can you ask .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Glass... The glass is amazing. Super clear, and the reticle focus for my aging eyes is a godsend. This is the first magnified scope I can actually have both eyes open when picking up a target. The reticles are bright, too. The reticle etched into the glass is very clear as well. I also have the 1x version of this sight and am very impressed with it as well. Perfect AR15 addition. The no questions asked VIP warranty offered by Vortex is awesome. Excellent purchase for the $ from B&H Photo. Fast shipping, too. Highly recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Deal for an Awesome Optic! First off, I got this optic at a great price with free shipping from B & H (ordered on a Tuesday evening and got it by Friday afternoon!); It came with a pair of smith optics safety glasses and a $50 gift card! This optic is worth every penny; I have put about 300 rnds through my Bushmaster Patrolman with the optic and it has performed flawlessly! I zeroed it at 100 yds and have been able to use the graded reticle to hit targets out to 300 yds but was unable to hit a target at 460 yds firing from a bench without stationary support (couldn't see where the round was impacting to make adjustments) I have also fired it at close range (25 yds); Target acquisition from a low ready position is a breeze and spot on! The optic being a 3x magnification took a little getting used to with both eyes open (just have to force yourself to focus on the reticle). I would recommend this optic to anyone who wants the benefit of a little bit of magnification for medium range shots and the ease of a red dot for close range shooting!

Rated 2 out of 5 by from First impression was positive; but... Everything looked good. I liked the reticle and the 3x magnification is perfect for my application. The clarity is excellent. My problem with this sight is with the focus ring/ocular lens. After adjusting the focus to my vision a very definite wobble was present in the ocular lens (up/down; left/right). So much so that if you put some pressure on the focus ring while looking through the scope the image will noticeably shift. The point of impact did not appear to be affected but I don't know that for sure as I didn't even bother to try it with live ammo. I own other Vortex products and this isn't what I'd expect from them. It is entirely possible that my sight is defective as opposed to some design flaw. If that's the case I would be very happy with this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clear clean sight picture I have the 3x spitfire mounted on a AR15 it was easy to mount with included and already installed mounts. The scope is very easy to get a full sight picture with, it also has the etched reticle so you can use it with out turning on the illumination feature (which does also work very well). Lifetime warranty; when i was adjusting the eyepiece focus I was unable to turn it by hand so I called Vortex the guy that answered the phone told me that they come from the factory very tight and to go ahead and put enough force on it to make it turn and that if it did break I was covered, I was impressed with this statement. After finding my wife's rubber jar lid remover and making my knuckles pop it freed up and now works fine. I really don't have any complaints about this scope or about B&H photo where i purchased it from.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GOOD STUFF MAYNARD! I own the Vortex strikefire. I have a slight astigmatism so on high power I get the double comet effect,I do like the strike fire its solid yet light weight. The spitfire prism glass rocks for my eye because the comet effect is almost non existent. The x3 power and the etched reticle are great for lining up the pins! nice on my DPMS oracle build. My AR friends liked it a lot. The price on this site rocks! it is heavier than strike fire not a con to me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great 3x Optic! Both eyes open w/ magnification, love it. Use it on .300 BLK SBR, & love it. The etched in reticle is a huge plus, the red/green option is icing on the cake. I think size is just right, very solid mount, held zero thus far, no complaints. Eye relief allows for both eyes open.
